Alternatively, you can consider flying to neighbouring major cities if direct tickets are unavailable. The nearest airports are located in the cities of Mackay (152 km) and Emerald (169 km). Some tourists also choose the airport in the city of Proserpine, located slightly further away, to continue their journey by ground transport.
