The weather here is clearly divided into two periods: wet and dry. The rainy season lasts from October to April, peaking from December to March, when the number of rainy days exceeds 20 per month. During this time, high humidity and frequent downpours are observed, though they are quickly replaced by sunshine.

The dry season, falling between May and September, is distinguished by clear skies and an almost complete absence of precipitation — for instance, in July, there may be no rain at all. It is worth noting that the end of the dry season (September and October) often becomes the hottest time of the year, when daily highs can exceed +36°C.

At the same time, the local winter, arriving in June and July, is considered the most comfortable time to visit. During this period, it becomes significantly drier, and the average temperature drops to a pleasant 25°C. This time of year is ideal for those who wish to avoid extreme heat and enjoy clear skies.

A characteristic feature of the climate in Cuiabá is noticeable daily temperature fluctuations, especially during the dry "winter" season. For example, in July, the difference between the daytime heat and the night-time cool can be substantial: during the day the air warms up to 31°C, while at night it cools down to a fresh 18–19°C. Such changes give tourists the opportunity to rest from the daytime heat and enjoy comfortable evenings.

The climate in Cuiabá is characterised by a clear division of the year into wet and dry seasons. The rainiest period occurs during the Southern Hemisphere summer: from December to March, precipitation falls very frequently, reaching 22–23 rainy days per month. At this time of year, an umbrella or raincoat will become your indispensable companions, as tropical downpours can be quite regular.

July is considered the driest month of the year, when rain is almost completely absent, and the number of days with precipitation drops to zero. June and August are also distinguished by an extremely low probability of rain — only about one day per month, which guarantees clear skies but also drier air.

Transition periods, such as April and May, mark the end of the rainy season, when the number of wet days decreases sharply. By September and October, the cycle resumes: after the dry period, the rains begin to return, gradually increasing their frequency to 12–16 days per month.

Cuiabá is known for its hot tropical climate, so the foundation of your wardrobe should be light and loose clothing made from natural fabrics such as cotton or linen. Given that the average daytime temperature often exceeds 30°C, and in September and October can reach extreme values, give preference to T-shirts, shorts, and light-coloured summer dresses. Be sure to bring comfortable, breathable shoes for long walks around the city, as closed boots may be too hot.

When packing, it is important to consider seasonal rainfall. In the dry season, from June to August, rain is practically ruled out, but the air becomes very dry, so it is worth taking care of moisturising skin products and always carrying a bottle of water with you.

Regardless of the time of year, sun protection in this region of Brazil is critically important: be sure to put sunglasses, a wide-brimmed hat, and high SPF cream in your suitcase. Although heat reigns during the day, for evenings in June and July when temperatures can drop to 18-20°C, or for trips in transport with powerful air conditioning, it is recommended to bring one light cardigan or windbreaker.
