It is a unique space where the ancient Atlantic Forest exists alongside sand dunes, creating a complex and picturesque ecosystem. Here you can find exotic trees like Ipê and Pau-Brasil, as well as admire vibrant orchids and bromeliads. After extensive renovations, the park has transformed into a modern cultural and sports cluster while maintaining an atmosphere of privacy and peace.

Today, it is one of the most popular vacation spots in the city. Visitors are drawn not only by its natural beauty but also by its well-developed infrastructure: from the country's largest skate park to cozy meditation squares and open-air amphitheaters.

What to Do

In this park, everyone will find something to their liking: active lifestyle enthusiasts will appreciate the paved trails stretching about 4 km, perfect for running, cycling, or rollerblading. For those who prefer more extreme sports, one of Brazil's largest skate parks is available, and group yoga and fitness classes are often held on the sports grounds.

If you are looking for cultural experiences, check out the Dorival Caymmi Amphitheater. It regularly hosts theatrical performances and concerts by local musicians. On weekends, colorful fairs take place at Pau-Brasil Square, where you can buy farm products, antiques, and unique handmade items.

For a quiet break, Confucius Square is ideal, designed for reflection and meditation in a silent environment. Families with children will appreciate the modern inclusive playgrounds and spacious lawns, perfect for lazy picnics in the shade of tropical trees.

Getting There

Getting to this natural retreat, located at Av. Antônio Carlos Magalhães, s/n, is quite simple. The most comfortable way for tourists is to use a taxi or ride-sharing apps (Uber), especially if you are coming from the historic center. The journey will take no more than 20–30 minutes, depending on traffic.

If you prefer public transportation, choose buses heading to the Itaigara or Pituba districts. The stops are within walking distance of the entrance. For those renting a car, parking is available near the Colabore innovation center.

The park is well-integrated into the urban environment, and following a major renovation, the old walls were replaced with open gates, making access as convenient as possible for residents and visitors alike.

History & Facts

The park owes its name to Joventino Pereira da Silva—a prominent figure who, in the early 20th century, planned to turn these lands into a modern residential quarter modeled after Belo Horizonte. His ideas for wide streets and harmonious spaces largely determined the development of the modern look of this part of the city.

The official history of the park began in 1973, when a municipal decree designated this territory as a protected zone. Opened in 1975, the park became a vital ecological asset for the region, preserving the city's last remaining fragments of the Atlantic Rainforest (Mata Atlântica) and unique sand dunes.

The modern stage of the park's development is linked to major renovations in 2001 and 2014. Thanks to the efforts of the city authorities, not only were sports zones created, but cultural symbols were also established. One such token of friendship is the Confucius statue, a gift from China's Shandong Province, located in the meditation square of the same name.

Time Needed

To enjoy nature at a leisurely pace and explore all corners of the park, we recommend setting aside 2 to 4 hours. This is enough time for a full walk along the Atlantic Forest trails and a short break in one of the rest areas.

If you plan to have a family picnic, visit one of the weekend markets, or watch a concert at the amphitheater, your visit might extend to half a day. The park is an ideal place to escape the city bustle without leaving the metropolis.

Working Hours

The park is open to the public daily, allowing you to plan your visit at any convenient time. On weekdays (Monday–Friday), the gates are open from 04:30 to 22:00. On Saturdays and Sundays, you can stroll through the alleys from 04:30 to 19:00.
