What to Do

The main reason to visit Graystone Brewing is its impressive selection of drinks. With 23 taps, they usually offer about a dozen of their own varieties, including famous ales and the unique MacAfee Lager, brewed with chaga. Besides beer, you can also try local ciders and other refreshing beverages.

Outdoor enthusiasts should join the Taproom Trail passport program—collect stamps from local establishments to win prizes. If you get hungry, keep an eye out for the food trucks frequently parked at the entrance; while the bar doesn't have its own kitchen, guests are welcome to bring their own food.

Don't forget to browse the souvenir area or take a piece of the adventure home: you can fill growlers or crowlers with your favorite beer to go. The cozy setting, featuring stone decor and hike-inspired beer names, makes it an ideal spot for both productive laptop work and lively gatherings with friends.

Getting There

The brewery is located at 221 King St, right in the heart of the city's central district. Thanks to its central location, it is easy to reach on foot or by bicycle from most points downtown.

If you plan to use public transport, city buses stop on neighboring streets just a couple of minutes' walk away. For those arriving by car, parking spaces are available along King Street and on the surrounding streets.

For travelers arriving from Fredericton Airport (YFC), the most convenient option is to take a taxi or rent a car—the drive to the city center takes no more than 15–20 minutes. Graystone Brewing is within walking distance of many popular hotels and restaurants.

History & Facts

The story of this place didn't begin in Canada, but nearly 20 years ago during a trek through Patagonia, Argentina. It was there that founder Wes Ward, inspired by the rugged beauty of nature, envisioned a project that would combine a passion for travel with quality beer. Even the interior details, such as the stone handles on the beer taps, serve as a reminder of those distant mountains.

The road to realizing this vision was long: after years in the bar industry, Wes assembled a team of three local homebrewers in 2014. The first recipes were developed right in his garage. The official downtown opening took place on a significant day—July 1, 2016, Canada Day.

Since its opening, Graystone Brewing has become more than just a bar—it’s an important community space. The team constantly experiments on their 10-barrel system, striving to capture the spirit of adventure in every glass. Today, it is one of the most recognizable and beloved spots in the region, continuing to grow while staying true to its "adventurous" philosophy.

Time Needed

To enjoy a tasting and soak in the atmosphere without rushing, most guests need 1 to 2 hours. This is plenty of time to sample a couple of craft varieties and relax in the cozy taphouse.

If you decide to grab a bite from a food truck often parked nearby or plan to stay longer with a large group of friends, you should budget 2–3 hours for your visit. For those just stopping by to shop, the process of filling a growler takes no more than 15 minutes.

Working Hours

The establishment's hours make it easy to drop in for an early lunch or an evening beer. Typically, the taphouse opens at 11:00 AM or 12:00 PM and operates until 10:00 PM early in the week, while on Fridays and Saturdays, the doors stay open until midnight.
