About

Imagine emerald greens stretching to the very edge of rocky cliffs, where azure waves of the Caribbean Sea crash against the shore. Corales Golf Course is more than just a sports venue; it is a landscape design masterpiece created by legendary architect Tom Fazio. Opened in 2010, this 18-hole championship course covers an impressive 700 acres. The main highlight of Corales is its location: six holes are situated directly on the shoreline. Players can enjoy the game while breathing in the salty sea breeze and admiring the coral reefs that gave the club its name.

The club demonstrates a high level of environmental commitment, using desalinated water for irrigation, and is part of the elite Puntacana Resort & Club complex. This is a place where sporting passion meets impeccable service and natural splendor.

What to Do

The main challenge for any guest here is conquering the legendary trio of final holes, known as the “Devil's Elbow.” The game culminates at the 18th hole, where players must execute a spectacular and precise shot across the Bay of Corales—this challenge is considered one of the most exhilarating in world golf.

Every player on the course is accompanied by a mandatory caddy, who assists with navigation and offers advice considering the shifting winds. Interesting features include the 3rd and 15th holes, which have two swappable greens, allowing the course difficulty to vary and making every new round unique. Don't miss the chance to feel like a professional, as these very fields host the prestigious PGA Tour every year.

Beyond the game, guests have access to resort privileges: relaxation at the Six Senses Spa, practice at the world-class tennis center, or fine dining at one of seven restaurants. If you are looking for complete immersion in luxury, consider the all-inclusive packages that combine accommodation in elite villas with unlimited access to the greens.

Getting There

Corales Golf Club is located on the eastern edge of the island in Punta Cana and is the jewel of the massive Puntacana Resort & Club complex. The nearest transportation hub is Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ), which is literally just a few minutes' drive away. For the ultimate comfort of players, the airport features a private VIP terminal located directly in the Corales area.

For guests arriving through the main terminal, a VIP transfer service is organized, allowing you to pass through all formalities as quickly as possible and be on the course within an hour of landing. Please note that the club is located within a gated, secure area, so access is only open to community members and guests of resort hotels such as Tortuga Bay or The Westin Puntacana.

If you plan to arrive from the city center or other areas, it is best to use a licensed taxi. Public transport does not enter this gated zone, ensuring an atmosphere of privacy and exclusivity for players. Flight paths over the resort have been specifically adjusted so that engine noise does not interfere with concentration during crucial shots.

History & Facts

The history of this ambitious project began in 2010, when renowned architect Tom Fazio brought to life the idea of creating a course that would blend harmoniously with the rugged beauty of the coast. During design, natural coral quarries, cliffs, and azure coves were preserved, becoming an integral part of the playing landscape.

The very emergence of the Puntacana Resort & Club complex is linked to the names Frank Rainieri and Theodore Kheel, who began developing Punta Cana back in 1971 with the goal of creating an eco-friendly resort. Later, world stars like singer Julio Iglesias and legendary fashion designer Oscar de la Renta contributed to the area's development, choosing these places for their residences.

In 2017, nature tested the course's resilience: a powerful hurricane damaged the eighth and ninth holes. However, this became an opportunity for improvement—Tom Fazio personally returned to work to reconstruct these sections, making them even more challenging and protected from the elements. Thanks to such meticulous preparation, since 2018, the club has been the permanent host of the Corales Punta Cana Championship—the first PGA Tour event in the country's history.

Time Needed

To complete a standard 18-hole round, players typically need 4 to 5 hours. This time accounts not only for the game itself but also for moving between holes and taking pauses to contemplate the breathtaking ocean scenery.

If you want to fully experience the atmosphere of elite leisure, we recommend setting aside a whole day for your visit. This will allow you to visit the local spa after your game or dine at one of the restaurants overlooking the Caribbean Sea.

Working Hours

Corales Golf Club welcomes guests daily from 06:00 to 17:00. This schedule allows you to start your game with the first rays of the sun, when the coast is pleasantly cool.

Given the high popularity of the club and the status competitions held here, it is highly recommended to book a tee time in advance through the official website or resort administration, especially if your trip falls during the high tourist season.
