The Museum of Agriculture (Le Compa) invites you to step back in time and see how technical progress has reshaped the landscape of the fields. This unique site, located in the city of Chartres, is rightfully considered the first institution of its kind in France. The museum spans an impressive area of over 3,000 square meters, offering guests a harmonious synthesis of science, history, and art.

The museum building itself deserves special attention — it is an architectural monument from the early 20th century. The collections are housed in a majestic 1905 rotunda, originally intended for repairing steam locomotives. Today, instead of locomotives, its vaults house rare examples of agricultural machinery, tools, and implements that demonstrate the evolution of farming over a century and a half.
The Le Compa exhibition is more than just a warehouse for old machines. It houses exceptional collections covering the period from 1800 to 1960. In addition to heavy tractors and combines, visitors can see exquisite miniature models, historical posters, and works of art that tell the vivid story of rural life while raising important questions about ecology and food production.
