Lille Flandres Station (Gare de Lille Flandres) is the city's main railway hub and the heart of the Hauts-de-France region's transport system. Located in the very centre of Lille, this historic terminal welcomes thousands of passengers daily arriving on high-speed TGV trains and regional TER expresses. Its convenient location allows travellers to immediately immerse themselves in the city's atmosphere, being just a few steps away from major attractions.
The station has a terminus configuration, which significantly simplifies navigation: all platforms are on the same level as the main hall. It is important for passengers to remember that there is a second major station in Lille — Lille Europe, located approximately 500 metres away. It is easy to get between them on foot or by metro if you have a transfer planned.

How to Get There
Getting to Lille Flandres Station is very simple, as it is the city's central public transport hub. Both metro lines lead here (lines 1 and 2); the stop is called Gare Lille Flandres.
Trams on routes R and T, connecting Lille with the suburbs of Tourcoing and Roubaix, also stop here. If you are in the historic centre, for example, at Grand Place, the walk will take just 5–7 minutes. A taxi rank is located directly in front of the main entrance on the station square.
Services and Amenities
The station offers a full range of services for a comfortable wait. Ticket offices and numerous ticket machines (both for long-distance and regional trains) are located in the main hall and galleries. Free unlimited Wi-Fi is available throughout the premises.
Special zones and stands with power sockets are provided for charging gadgets. Passengers can use paid toilets and automatic luggage lockers. Ramps, elevators, and special waiting areas are equipped for citizens with reduced mobility, and an escort service is also available.
Where to Eat
Within the station itself, there is an excellent selection for a quick snack. You will find popular French bakeries such as Paul or Brioche Dorée, where you can buy a fresh sandwich and coffee (average bill 8–12 euros). Chain fast food outlets and coffee shops are also available.
If you have at least an hour to spare, it is worth stepping out onto the station square. Here you will find traditional brasseries where you can try local dishes, such as mussels with fries. Right next door is the large Euralille shopping centre with a huge food court to suit every taste.
Station History
The history of Lille Flandres Station is unique: its majestic neoclassical facade originally belonged to the Gare du Nord in Paris. In the 1860s, during the reconstruction of the Parisian station, the facade was dismantled stone by stone and transported to Lille, where it was given a second life.
Over the past century and a half, the station has been expanded repeatedly to cope with the growing passenger flow. A crucial stage was the modernization at the end of the 20th century, associated with the development of the high-speed TGV train network, which secured Lille's status as a key railway crossroads between France, Belgium, and the United Kingdom.
Passenger Tips
It is recommended to arrive at the station at least 20 minutes before the train departs to calmly find the necessary platform. Please note: if you have an old-style paper ticket, it must be validated in the yellow machines before entering the platform.
Be careful when transferring: be sure to check from which station your next train departs — Lille Flandres or Lille Europe. Although they are located close by, a mistake could cost you a missed train. The station closes at night, so you should not plan to stay overnight in the waiting hall.
