The Montpellier Saint-Roch Railway Station is the city's main transport gateway and a key hub for the Occitanie region. Getting to Montpellier Saint-Roch station is very easy due to its central location.

Public Transport: Directly in front of the station is a major transport hub where trams from all four lines (L1, L2, L3, L4) and city buses (lines 6, 7, 8, 11) stop. This makes the station accessible from any part of the city.

On Foot: From the city's main square, Place de la Comédie, you can reach the station in just 5–7 minutes at a leisurely pace through lively streets.

Taxi and Transfer: The taxi rank is located at the station exit (on the Pont de Sète side). A trip to Montpellier Méditerranée Airport will take approximately 15–20 minutes depending on traffic.

The station offers a wide range of services to ensure a comfortable wait for your train. The building features complimentary Wi-Fi (login required), power outlets for charging gadgets, and even a piano for those who wish to play.

The history of railway transport in this location began in the mid-19th century. The first station building was constructed in the 1840s, but the facility has since been rebuilt multiple times to accommodate growing passenger numbers.

A significant milestone was the official naming of the station as Saint-Roch in 2005, in honour of the city's patron saint. In the 2010s, a massive renovation took place under the "Nouveau Saint-Roch" project. The building was expanded, and an impressive glass nave was erected over the tracks, filling the space with natural light and giving the station a modern, airy appearance while preserving the historic 19th-century façade.

Arrival: Arrive at the station at least 20 minutes before your train departs. For high-speed TGV trains, access to the platform may close 2 minutes prior to departure.

Tickets: If you have an old-style paper ticket (without a QR code), do not forget to validate it in the yellow machines before entering the platform. Electronic tickets simply need to be shown to the conductor on your smartphone screen.

Safety: As with any major transport hub, keep an eye on your belongings. Do not leave luggage unattended, as this may trigger a security alert and cause train delays.

Overnight waiting: The station closes at night (usually after the last train around 00:30) and opens early in the morning, so staying overnight in the waiting hall is not possible.
