Did you know where in South Asia you can find one of the most impressive collections of the planet's tiniest inhabitants? The TNAU Insect Museum is the first and unique project of its kind in a country as vast as India. Located in the scenic city of Coimbatore on the grounds of the prestigious Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), this museum unveils the fascinating world of entomology to its visitors.

The museum spans an impressive area of nearly 6,700 square feet and was officially opened in the spring of 2018. Its exposition is mind-blowing: it features more than 20,000 specimens representing 50 different species, with the total number of insects in the collection reaching 114,000 units. The halls showcase representatives of 27 orders—from delicate butterflies and industrious bees to massive beetles and exotic stick insects.
This is not just an exhibition behind glass, but a modern scientific and educational center. Thanks to its rich heritage, which has been gathered since the beginning of the 20th century, the TNAU Insect Museum has become a significant landmark in the state of Tamil Nadu, attracting both professional researchers and curious tourists from all over the world.
