Sri Navaneetheswarar Temple, also known as Sikkal Temple, is one of the most important Hindu shrines in the Nagapattinam region of Tamil Nadu, India. Located in the small settlement of Sikkal, it is near the city of Velankanni, which also attracts many pilgrims due to its famous Christian basilica. This site holds special significance as it is among the 275 Paadal Petra Sthalam—select Shiva temples praised in the ancient Tamil hymns of the Nayanar saints. The temple architecture is a striking example of the traditional Dravidian style. Visitors are greeted by the characteristic multi-tiered tower, or gopuram, decorating the entrance, as well as numerous sculptural images of deities from the Hindu pantheon, detailed and full of symbolism.
