Since the city is situated in an oasis between two deserts, the weather here is very dry, and humidity remains low throughout the year. This means that even high summer temperatures are easier to tolerate than in humid climates, although the sun here is very active and bright.

The seasons are quite distinct, with a strong contrast between summer and winter. Summer here is hot and sweltering: from June to August, daytime temperatures consistently exceed 35°C, peaking in July. Winter, on the other hand, is cool and mild, with average temperatures around 6–10°C, though nights can be quite cold as the thermometer drops nearly to freezing.

One of the main features of the weather in Yazd is the almost complete absence of precipitation. Rain here is a great rarity; even in spring and autumn, when the chance of precipitation is slightly higher, it remains minimal. For travellers, this means almost guaranteed cloudless skies and excellent opportunities for sightseeing in any season, provided one prepares properly for the temperature conditions.

The climate of Yazd fully corresponds to its location in a desert area: seasonality is pronounced here with hot summers and cool winters. The hottest month of the year is July, when the average temperature holds at 30.9°C, and daytime highs regularly exceed 37°C. Conversely, the coldest time is considered to be January: average values fall to 6.4°C, and at night the air cools down practically to 0°C.

Summer in the city is characterized by dry and intense heat. From June to August, the daytime heat can be exhausting, reaching 35–37°C, however, the lack of rainfall and low humidity make it more bearable. Winter here is mild and calm: although nights can be truly cold, during the day the sun often warms the air to a comfortable 12–15°C, allowing you to enjoy walks without extreme freezing temperatures.

An important feature of the weather in Yazd is the noticeable daily temperature fluctuations typical of deserts. The difference between the daily maximum and nightly minimum often exceeds 10–12 degrees. For example, even on the hottest summer days, by nightfall the temperature drops to a pleasant 23–24°C, bringing long-awaited freshness, while in spring and autumn, evenings may require warm clothing even after a warm sunny day.

This region is characterized by a distinct arid period that lasts from the beginning of summer until mid-autumn. From June to September, the probability of rain is practically zero: during these months, statistics do not record a single wet day, which guarantees tourists cloudless skies and constant sunshine.

The relative "rainy season" is extremely weak and falls mainly in the spring and autumn months. The wettest time of the year can be conditionally called April, when the highest number of wet days is recorded — about 6 per month. However, even during this period, precipitation intensity remains minimal, barely reaching 1 mm. A second small peak occurs in November, when short-term rains are possible over approximately 4 days.

In winter, despite the drop in temperature (in January the average minimum is about 0.5°C), significant precipitation is also not observed. In the period from December to March, the number of days with precipitation varies from 2 to 3 per month, and their volume remains close to zero. Thus, when planning a trip to Yazd, you need not worry about prolonged downpours or snowfall — an umbrella will most likely not be needed here.

A trip to Yazd requires a careful approach to your wardrobe due to the desert climate characteristic of this region. Summer here is hot and arid, so from June to August, give preference to loose clothing made from natural breathable fabrics, such as cotton or linen. Be sure to bring high-quality sunglasses, a wide-brimmed hat, and high SPF sunscreen, as the sun here is very active practically all year round.

In winter and the off-season, the temperature regime changes: comfortable daytime warmth can sharply give way to night-time chill, when the thermometer drops almost to freezing. For a trip between November and March, it is best to use the layering principle. Pack a warm sweater, fleece top, or jacket in your suitcase to keep you warm during evening walks, which can be easily removed during the day if it gets hot.

Since Yazd is famous for its labyrinths of ancient streets, you will need maximally comfortable shoes for long walks — light trainers or sturdy flat sandals will be the ideal choice.
