The summer season is distinct here: from June to August, the weather is sunny and dry, with rainfall being practically absent, and the thermometer often exceeding 30°C at the height of the day. This is the best time for a beach holiday. Spring and early autumn, conversely, offer the most comfortable conditions for long walks and excursions: in May and September, the temperature holds at pleasant marks of around 18–23°C.

Winter in Cagliari is very mild, and temperatures even in the coldest months (January and February) rarely drop below 7°C at night. The main volume of precipitation falls during late autumn and the winter period, with November usually being the wettest month of the year. However, even in the "wet" season, rains are rarely prolonged, leaving tourists plenty of time to explore the city.

Nevertheless, due to the fact that night temperatures in summer remain high (averaging around 21.5°C in July and August), evenings bring welcome freshness but remain warm enough for long walks and dinners on open terraces.

Precipitation in Cagliari is distributed unevenly throughout the year, which is typical for a classic Mediterranean climate. Snow here is an exceptional phenomenon, as even in the coldest months, the temperature stays significantly above freezing. In spring, especially in March, the weather can also be capricious (about 10 days with precipitation). However, even in this "wet" period, rains are rarely prolonged, and sunny days still predominate.

When packing for Cagliari in summer, opt for light clothing made from natural fabrics such as linen or cotton, as in July and August temperatures often exceed 30°C, and rain is practically ruled out. Be sure to take quality sunscreen, sunglasses, and a wide-brimmed hat — the Sardinian sun is very active. Since the city is located on the coast, beach accessories will be most welcome, but for evening walks by the sea, a light wrap might come in handy due to possible breezes.

In spring and autumn, when it is warm during the day but evenings bring coolness, it is convenient to combine t-shirts with cardigans or jumpers. Regardless of the time of year, the main item on your list should be comfortable, varied footwear for walking. The historic city centre, especially the Castello district, is located on a hill and abounds with ancient cobblestones; ascents and descents are commonplace here, so stable trainers or flat-soled boots will be much more practical than heels. Also remember the wind: the proximity of the sea often brings fresh gusts, so having a windbreaker will make long excursions more comfortable.
