The easiest way to reach Rogoredo station is by metro. The station is located on the yellow line M3 (Rogoredo FS), which connects the station to Piazza del Duomo (about 15 minutes) and the Central Station. This is the fastest and most reliable method, allowing you to avoid city traffic.
Numerous suburban trains also operate here (lines S1, S2, S13), connecting the station with other districts of Milan and the suburbs of Lombardy. A taxi ride from the historic centre will take 20–30 minutes and cost approximately 20–30 Euros. Walking from the centre is not recommended as the distance exceeds 6 km, but you can walk from the nearby residential blocks of the Santa Giulia district in just a few minutes.
Milan Rogoredo station offers a standard set of services for travellers. In the main hall, there are ticket offices for major operators (Trenitalia, Italo) and numerous self-service machines with interfaces in multiple languages. Small seating areas are provided for waiting; however, please note that there are no business lounges or exclusive waiting rooms here.
Additional amenities include paid toilets, ATMs, and a newsstand. Passengers can connect to free Wi-Fi (registration required). The history of Rogoredo station dates back to the late 19th century when it served primarily as a cargo hub for the industrial outskirts of Milan. For a long time, the station remained in a secondary role, but a large-scale reconstruction in the 1990s and 2000s radically changed its status.
The most important stage was the inclusion of the station in the high-speed network (Alta Velocità) and the city suburban railway (Passante ferroviario). In 1991, the metro line M3 was extended here, transforming Rogoredo into a powerful intermodal hub capable of relieving the city's main station and receiving trains from all over Italy.
It is recommended to arrive at Rogoredo station at least 20 minutes before your train departs. The station is less busy than the Central Station, but queues at machines are possible during peak hours. If you are travelling by regional train, be sure to validate (stamp) your ticket in the special machines before going to the platform to avoid fines.
When transferring between trains, allow at least 10–15 minutes, as navigating the underground tunnel may take time. In the evening and at night, try to wait for your train inside the station building where there is security, as the square outside can be deserted.
