The weather in Ohrid is largely defined by its unique location on the shores of a vast lake surrounded by mountains. Summer, especially July and August, delights with warmth and sun: the air warms up to an average of 26–27°C during the day, and the number of rainy days is kept to a minimum. This is the ideal time for long walks and relaxing by the water. Winter brings coolness and high humidity; in January and February, temperatures often hover around zero or drop slightly below freezing, and precipitation occurs much more frequently.

The transitional seasons — spring and autumn — are characterized by mild but changeable weather. In spring, nature gradually awakens, and by May it becomes truly warm, although the number of rainy days remains quite high. September often gifts travelers a pleasant continuation of summer with comfortable temperatures around 21°C, before a palpable autumn cooling sets in during October and November.

The temperature patterns in Ohrid demonstrate a distinct seasonality characteristic of a continental climate. The coldest period of the year is January, when the average temperature hovers around 1.0°C. Winters here are cool but, as a rule, without extreme frosts: during the night hours, the thermometer drops on average to -2.3°C, and during the day the air warms up only to 4-6°C. Travelers heading here in winter should be prepared for brisk coolness and possible freezing temperatures.

Summer in Ohrid is a time of comfortable warmth, ideally suited for outdoor recreation. The hottest months are July and August, when average daily highs reach marks of 26.5°C — 26.8°C. Unlike southern seaside resorts, exhausting heat is rare here; the weather is pleasantly warm rather than hot. However, judging by the small total volume of precipitation in millimeters, these rains are generally not prolonged downpours, but rather short-lived in nature.

Summer is the most favorable time for those looking for sun and dry weather. July and August are considered the driest months of the year: statistics show only about 7 days with precipitation per month, and their intensity is minimal. This creates ideal conditions for a beach holiday on the lake and open-air excursions.

The beginning of autumn continues the summer trend: September and October remain relatively dry (7–8 days with precipitation), making the shoulder season very pleasant to visit. However, by November the weather changes, and the number of rainy days rises again to 13, marking the transition to the winter climate.

When packing for Ohrid, it is important to consider seasonality and local climate peculiarities. For a summer trip, when the daytime temperature comfortably stays around +22...+26°C, your wardrobe should be based on light items made of natural fabrics, a hat, and sunglasses. Be sure to take swimwear for relaxing on the lake, but don't forget a light sweater or windbreaker: evenings by the water can be fresh even in the height of July.

If the trip is planned for the off-season or winter, the approach to packing changes. In winter and late autumn, the temperature often drops to 0...+5°C, so a warm jacket, scarf, and gloves will be necessary. Spring, especially May, is characterized by a large number of rainy days, so a reliable umbrella or a quality raincoat are mandatory items on your packing list. At this time of year, it is best to use the layering principle to easily adapt to weather changes throughout the day.

Regardless of the season, pay special attention to footwear. Ohrid is a city with a rich history, cobblestone streets, and hilly terrain, so comfortable sneakers or boots with flat, stable soles are ideal for excursions. High-heeled shoes will be impractical here. For trips during the cool months (from November to April), choose waterproof footwear, as humidity increases during this time.
