Public Transport: Metro lines D and E lead here (Rotterdam Centraal station is located on the underground level). The history of railway transport in this location began back in the 19th century, but Rotterdam Centraal acquired its modern look quite recently. The previous station building, constructed in 1957 based on the design of architect Van Ravesteyn, was a classic example of post-war architecture, but by the beginning of the 21st century, it ceased to cope with the growing passenger flow and the requirements of high-speed lines.

Large-scale reconstruction began in 2007. The old building was demolished (although some decorative elements and the clock were preserved as a tribute to history), and a new futuristic complex rose in its place. The official opening took place in March 2014, attended by King Willem-Alexander. The new station became a key link in the European high-speed train network, connecting Rotterdam via a direct line with Paris and London, and serving as a symbol of the city's resurgence.

Arrival Time: For domestic trips, arriving 15–20 minutes early is sufficient. However, if you are travelling on Eurostar to London, be sure to arrive well in advance (at least 45–60 minutes), as you will need to go through passport control and security screening at a special terminal on the platform.

Tickets and Turnstiles: Entry and exit from the station are gated by turnstiles. Always keep your ticket handy until you exit into the city. If you have an international ticket with a QR code, look for turnstiles with a glass scanner (they are usually wider than the standard ones).
