The museum is proud of its impressive collection, which includes about 500,000 items. Visitors can expect a variety of collections: archaeological finds telling the story of ancient civilizations; historical and lifestyle objects recreating the way of life in past eras; extensive natural science displays introducing the flora and fauna of the Far East; and ethnographic materials revealing the culture of the indigenous peoples of the Amur region. Special emphasis is placed on unique exhibits dedicated to the exploration and development of the Far Eastern region.
The museum was named after Nikolai Ivanovich Grodekov, the Governor-General of the Amur region, who played a key role in its creation and establishment. Within the museum halls, you can see valuable ethnographic collections, ancient coins, rare books, paintings, and much more. One of the highlights of the exhibition is the famous "Battle of Volochayevka" panorama—one of only five in Russia—which impresses with its scale and realism, transporting viewers into the heart of historical events.
