How to Get There

Getting to Lleida Pirineus station is quite simple, as it is located in close proximity to the city centre. From the main shopping street and the historic centre, you can reach it on foot in 10–15 minutes by crossing the Segre River via the bridge.

Next to the station building, there is a stop for city buses. Routes connecting the station with various districts of Lleida stop here (for example, lines 1, 2, 3, and 20). Tickets can be purchased directly from the driver upon boarding.

For those who prefer comfort, a taxi rank is organised at the terminal exit. A trip from distant parts of the city will take about 10–20 minutes depending on traffic. If you are arriving by car, there is paid parking available next to the station.

Services and Facilities

The station offers a wide range of services for a comfortable wait for your journey. The main lobby houses ticket counters for long-distance and regional trains, as well as self-service machines where you can quickly print or buy a ticket.

Spacious waiting rooms with seating are available for passengers. Travellers with premium tickets can use the Sala Club — a business lounge with additional amenities. Free Wi-Fi is available on the premises (registration required), and there are power outlets for charging gadgets in specific zones.

The infrastructure also includes clean restrooms, ATMs, car rental desks, and a tourist information office. The station is equipped with everything necessary for people with disabilities: ramps, wide elevators, and tactile navigation.

Where to Eat

A cafeteria operates within the station premises, where you can have coffee, order a sandwich, or a light breakfast before departure. This is a convenient option for a quick snack, with an average bill of around 5–10 Euros. There are also vending machines with water, snacks, and chocolates installed in the building.

If you have 30–40 minutes to spare, it is worth going out to the station square, Plaça de Berenguer IV, and the adjacent Rambla de Ferran street. There are several cafes and restaurants located there, offering both traditional Spanish tapas and full meals. Grocery stores are also within walking distance if you need to buy food for the road.

Station History

The history of railway communication in Lleida began in the second half of the 19th century when the first train arrived here from Barcelona. The current historic station building in the French Classicism style was built in the 1920s and is an architectural monument that adorns the city.

A key stage in the station's development was the year 2003, when the station was extensively reconstructed to accommodate high-speed AVE trains. During the works, the historic facade was carefully preserved, while the track area was covered by a huge modern canopy made of glass and metal, resembling a bird's wing. This modernisation turned Lleida into an important transport hub connecting Madrid, Zaragoza, and the coast of Catalonia.

Passenger Tips

For trips on high-speed trains (AVE, Alvia, Avant), it is recommended to arrive at the station at least 30 minutes before departure. This is necessary to pass through security control: before entering the platform, luggage and outerwear are scanned via an X-ray machine.

Always keep your ticket handy (printed or on a smartphone screen), as it will be needed not only upon entry but sometimes upon exiting the station through the turnstiles. Watch the information board carefully: the platform number is usually announced 15–20 minutes before the train's arrival.

The station closes for the night after the arrival of the last train, so staying overnight in the waiting room is not possible. If you have a transfer, please note that luggage lockers may have limited operating hours. Keep an eye on your personal belongings, even though the station is considered a safe place with security.
