The climate of the city of Trat and the province of the same name is a classic example of a tropical monsoon type. It is warm here all year round: the average air temperature remains steadily in the range of 26–28°C, creating comfortable conditions for heat lovers. Even in the "coldest" months, night temperatures rarely drop below 21°C, so you will hardly need warm clothes.

The weather in this region of Thailand can be roughly divided into two distinct periods: the dry season and the rainy season. From November to April, there is very little rainfall, and the sun shines brightly and often. This is the most popular time to visit, when the number of rainy days is minimal, especially in December and January.

From May to October, the picture changes: the wet season arrives. During this period, the number of days with precipitation increases sharply, reaching a maximum in summer and early autumn, when rain can fall almost daily. However, even at this time, it is still hot here, and tropical downpours are often replaced by clear skies, allowing you to enjoy the lush greenery and nature of the region.

Trat welcomes travelers with a warm tropical climate, where temperature fluctuations throughout the year remain insignificant. The hottest month is traditionally April, when the average temperature reaches 28.4°C, and daytime highs often exceed 31.9°C. During this period, the sun is particularly active, creating an atmosphere of true tropical heat before the start of the rainy season.

The nominal "winter" in this part of Thailand (December and January) is perhaps the most comfortable time for European tourists. The weather becomes mild and pleasant: average figures drop to 25.9°C – 26.4°C. During these months, the most noticeable difference between daytime warmth and nighttime coolness is observed: after sunset, the air can cool down to 21.6°C, which gives welcome freshness after a hot day.

The summer months and early autumn are characterized by a very stable temperature regime. From June to October, the thermometer stays in a narrow range of 26-27°C. At this time, daily fluctuations are minimal: nights become very warm (about 24-25°C), and daytime heat is softened by cloudiness and precipitation, rarely exceeding 29°C. Due to high humidity, the air during this period feels thick and warm around the clock.

The climate in Trat has a distinct seasonal character, typical for the tropical latitudes of Thailand. The driest and most comfortable period for tourists lasts from December to February. At this time, the probability of precipitation is minimal: in December and January, only about 1 mm of precipitation is recorded, and the number of rainy days varies from 4 to 7 per month. This is the ideal time for beach holidays and sea trips, when the sky remains predominantly clear.

The rainy season begins in spring and reaches its peak in summer and early autumn. Starting from May and right up to October, humidity rises, and rains become an almost daily occurrence. The wettest months are July, August, and September, when the number of days with precipitation reaches 30–31 per month, and the volume of precipitation rises to the annual maximum (about 16 mm).

Despite the high frequency of rains in the "green season," they rarely fall continuously throughout the day. Most often, these are short-term but refreshing downpours that are replaced by the sun. Transitional months, such as November and March, are characterized by a moderate amount of precipitation, when the dry season is either just beginning or is already losing ground, giving way to the monsoons.

When packing for Trat, give preference to light and loose clothing made from natural breathable fabrics, such as cotton or linen. Considering that the average air temperature here stays around +26...+28°C all year round, the basis of your wardrobe should be t-shirts, shorts, summer dresses, and sundresses. Be sure to put a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, and high SPF cream in your suitcase, as the sun in Thailand is very active even in cloudy weather.

If your trip falls during the rainy season (primarily from May to October), when the number of wet days reaches a maximum, a light poncho raincoat or a compact umbrella is vitally necessary. During this period, it is better to choose clothes and shoes that dry quickly. In the dry season (from November to April), rains happen extremely rarely, so you can focus on beach outfits. For evening walks by the sea or trips in transport with powerful air conditioners, bring a light long-sleeved sweater, as at night the temperature can drop to +22°C.

Regarding footwear, it is worth taking comfortable sandals or light sneakers for long walks and excursions, as well as flip-flops for the beach. Since the climate is humid and warm, it would not be superfluous to stock up on insect repellents. The principle of layering in clothing is not so critical here due to the stable heat, but having a spare set of dry things will always come in handy, especially after a sudden tropical downpour.
