Spring (April-May) and autumn (October-November) are transitional seasons with very comfortable temperatures and moderate rainfall. These periods are often considered the best time to visit Izmir, as the weather is perfect for long walks, exploring historical sites, and enjoying nature without the summer heat or winter humidity. The annual temperature progression in Izmir demonstrates a classic Mediterranean pattern with distinct warm and cool seasons. The hottest months are July and August. If your trip falls during the hot summer months, from June to September, when the air temperature often rises above 30-34°C and precipitation is practically absent, focus mainly on light and breathable clothing made from natural fabrics such as cotton or linen. Do not forget swimwear for relaxing on the coast, sandals, and perhaps a light cover-up or a long-sleeved shirt for sun protection or for evening walks when it gets slightly cooler. You are unlikely to need an umbrella during this period.

For travelling to Izmir during the cooler time of the year, from November to March, when the average temperature ranges from 8°C to 14°C and the number of rainy days increases (especially in December-January, when there are 12-13 days with precipitation), it is worth taking warmer clothing. Think about sweaters, a fleece jacket, jeans or thick trousers, as well as a light but waterproof jacket or a compact umbrella, as rains, although not abundant in terms of millimetres, can be frequent. In spring (April-May) and autumn (October), the weather is very comfortable but changeable, so layering and a light windbreaker or cardigan will be very useful.
