An alternative option for those travelling along the coast could be the airport in Carlsbad (CNM), located approximately 68 km to the north. All the listed airports have excellent transport connections to the coast, so the final leg of the journey by taxi or transfer will not take much time.

There is no direct rail service to the resort, as Imperial Beach does not have its own station. However, train enthusiasts can comfortably travel to the region's major transport hubs. The nearest and most popular arrival point is the railway station in San Diego, located just 15 km from the destination.

There are also routes leading to Carlsbad or to the border near the city of Tijuana. From any of these stations, you can quickly reach the beach town by using local ground transport or taxi services.

Bus services connect the resort with key cities in the region, offering affordable options for travellers. The fastest route runs from San Diego: the bus covers the distance of about 25 km in approximately 55 minutes. The trip from neighbouring Tijuana is also popular and takes just over an hour for a distance of about 13–14 km.

For those travelling from the north, for example from the city of Carlsbad, the journey will be longer. The distance is about 119 km, and travel time can reach 4.5–5 hours due to stops and transfers, so it is better to plan such a trip in advance.

Travelling by car is one of the most comfortable ways to reach the coast, allowing you to enjoy the views of California. The drive from San Diego or from the border with the city of Tijuana will take minimal time: the distance of 12–20 km can be covered in just 20 minutes in the absence of traffic jams.

Travellers heading from the city of Carlsbad will have to drive about 73 km, which usually takes around 50 minutes. Taxi and car-sharing services operate excellently in the region, so organising a transfer to your hotel will be effortless.
