Vegas Off Road Tours specializes in excursions using modern side-by-side (SXS) vehicles, such as the Polaris RZR. Unlike standard ATVs, these machines are equipped with sturdy roll cages, seatbelts, and roofs, making the ride comfortable even for beginners. The routes cover diverse terrain, from gentle sandy trails to steep climbs that reveal panoramic views of the vast Nevada landscape.

This is a family-owned business with a long history, founded by professional racers. A key feature of these tours is that the base is located right at the trailheads, so you don't have to waste time on long equipment transport—the action starts almost immediately. Safety is a top priority here: every participant receives a helmet with built-in radio communication for constant contact with the guide.

What to Do

The main attraction here is, of course, self-driving a powerful Polaris RZR XP 1000. You can choose to be the driver or go as a passenger, leaving the steering to an experienced guide. Routes are mapped through scenic parts of the desert where you might spot wildlife and see unique cacti, while the radio in your helmet allows you to hear interesting facts about the area as you move.

The Pioneer Saloon Adventure is particularly popular. It’s not just a ride, but a journey back in time. The route includes 2.5 hours of driving through the hills with stops at old mine ruins and ends at a legendary saloon built in 1913. There, travelers can enjoy the famous Ghost Burger and visit a small museum. It's a great way to combine an adrenaline rush with an immersion into Wild West history.

For those who want to capture their exploits, the company provides complimentary photos taken by guides at the most spectacular points along the route. It's an ideal spot for corporate team building, an exciting date, or a family outing, as tours are adapted to different skill levels and run year-round.

Getting There

Getting to the Vegas Off Road Tours base is quite simple, despite its desert location. The facility is located approximately a 40-minute drive from the famous Las Vegas Strip. You should take I-15 South to Exit 12 (Jean/Goodsprings). The road is fully paved right up to the gates, so a rental car can easily get you to the starting point without needing to drive off-road beforehand.

If you don't plan on driving yourself to the site, the company offers a complimentary round-trip shuttle from select hotels on the Strip. This is a very convenient option, allowing you to relax and gear up for the adventure. It is recommended to check shuttle availability and pickup times when booking your tour.

Alternatively, you could use a taxi or Uber, though a one-way trip will cost around $50–$80. For more flexibility and the chance to stop by the Seven Magic Mountains art installation nearby, using a personal or rental vehicle is best. Free parking is provided for visitors at the base.

History & Facts

The history of Vegas Off Road Tours is closely tied to the name Earl Desiderio of RSS Motorsports. A passionate off-road racing enthusiast and professional racer, Earl decided to turn his hobby into a unique tourism product. Nearly two decades ago, his team opened one of the first companies in the region to offer off-road adventures right on the edge of Paradise.

Many of the routes pass through the historic settlement of Goodsprings. In the early 1900s, this was a thriving mining community and one of the most profitable in southern Nevada. During the ride, tourists can see the ruins of old mines that serve as a reminder of the "gold rush" days and the hard work of the pioneers who settled these arid lands.

A special place in the tour's history is held by the Pioneer Saloon—the oldest bar in southern Nevada, built in 1913. Its walls are made of stamped tin ordered from the Sears Roebuck catalog, and it is perhaps the last surviving example of such architecture in the USA. Inside the saloon is a Clark Gable memorial room, connected to the tragic story of the search for his wife, Carole Lombard, after a plane crash in these mountains.

What began as a local project for extreme sports fans has today evolved into a full-scale tourist attraction that harmoniously combines the modern technology of powerful off-road vehicles with the rich cultural heritage of the Mojave Desert.

Time Needed

To fully enjoy the adventure, you should set aside half a day. The tours themselves vary in duration: from quick 1 hour 20 minute rides to more thorough expeditions lasting about 3-4 hours. However, don't forget to add time for the pre-trip briefing and gear fitting.

If you plan to use the shuttle service or include a visit to the historic saloon with lunch, budget between 3 to 5 hours for the entire experience. This is the optimal amount of time to enjoy the Mojave Desert views without rushing, take great photos, and soak in the atmosphere of the Old West.

Working Hours

The company's operating hours allow you to choose a convenient time for a morning or afternoon ride. The facility is open as follows: Tuesday through Saturday from 08:30 to 18:00, and Sunday from 10:00 to 16:00. They are closed on Mondays.

Since tours run on a strict schedule and group sizes are limited, it is strongly recommended to book your adventure in advance. If your preferred date is grayed out on the company website, it's worth calling directly to check for the possibility of an additional departure.
