Getting to 30th Street Station is very convenient as it is situated at the junction of Center City and the University City district. A walk from the city centre takes about 15–20 minutes, with a route crossing bridges that offer picturesque views of the Schuylkill River.

Public Transport: The station is directly connected to the Market-Frankford Line metro (30th St stop) and underground tram lines. Numerous SEPTA bus routes also stop here.

Taxi and Car: A taxi or Uber ride from the historic district takes 5–10 minutes depending on traffic. A multi-level car park is available near the station for private vehicles.

The station was opened in 1933 by the Pennsylvania Railroad (PRR) to replace the old station on Broad Street. Designed by the architectural firm Graham, Anderson, Probst & White, the building is an outstanding example of monumental Classicism and Art Deco.

Throughout its history, the station has undergone several stages of modernisation while preserving its historic interiors, including the famous "Angel of the Resurrection" memorial dedicated to railway workers who perished in the Second World War. Today, the station officially bears the name of William H. Gray III, though it is still widely known as 30th Street Station.

It is recommended to arrive at the station at least 30–45 minutes before your train's departure. Boarding for Amtrak services is announced approximately 15 minutes prior to departure, and queues often form at the gates.
