What to Do

The main reason to visit Flying Heart Brewing & Pub is to taste its unique craft beer. Visitors are offered a permanent lineup of seven signature flagships, as well as seasonal specialties brewed right on-site. Since these beers are only available at the chain's pubs, you are guaranteed to get the freshest drink straight from the source.

The culinary side of the pub deserves a special mention. Be sure to try the signature pizza, the menu for which was developed in collaboration with renowned chef Jeff Judge. In addition to beer, the pub serves exquisite craft cocktails and a variety of snacks, making it an excellent spot for both a light bite and a full dinner.

For those who prefer active relaxation, the pub offers a cozy outdoor patio where you can play games or simply chat in an informal setting. Of particular interest are themed events such as Brew & Zoo, where you can see exotic animals ranging from alpacas to baby alligators. These events are often held in support of charitable initiatives, combining entertainment with good deeds.

If you arrive in your own vehicle, keep in mind that parking near the pub can get crowded during evenings and weekends. However, the location makes it easy to reach on foot if you are already downtown or strolling along the riverbank. The nearest major airport, Shreveport Regional (SHV), is approximately an hour's drive away.

History & Facts

The story of this place began quite unusually—as a hobby in the basement of a dental laboratory. In 2014, Ben Hart, left home alone while his wife was on a business trip, decided to try his hand at microbrewing. Soon, his friends joined him, and this passion grew into a real craft beer lovers' club, and eventually into a full-fledged business called Flying Heart Brewing.

The name and logo—a stylized winged heart—have deep roots. It is a family brand used by the owners for their karting racing team and on their ranch. The company was officially founded in August 2014, and their first location opened in a historic fire station in a neighboring city. The success of the first project allowed the owners to think about expansion.

The location in West Monroe became the second major milestone. Unlike the first pub, this building on Commerce St was built almost from scratch on a vacant lot by the river. The idea for the opening came to the owners after meeting the city's mayor during a Mardi Gras parade. Notably, the founders personally participated in the construction, including laying the bricks on the back patio, to make the place truly their own.

Time Needed

To fully soak in the atmosphere of the establishment, visitors are generally recommended to allow 1.5 to 3 hours for their visit. This is plenty of time to leisurely order a tasting flight of beer, wait for a signature pizza, and enjoy relaxing in the fresh air.

If you plan to attend one of the special events, such as charity nights with animals or live concerts, your stay may extend up to 4 hours. The pub's family-friendly format and the availability of board games encourage long and relaxed gatherings with friends.
