The company's main operational hub is the airport in Athens.

A key feature of the airline is its specialization in routes between the Aegean islands. The company's fleet is adapted for landing at small regional airports, making it indispensable for tourists wishing to visit remote corners of Hellas. In addition to regular passenger transport, the company provides air taxi services and performs charter flights.

Sky Express has been repeatedly recognized with awards for its contribution to the development of tourism and aviation in the region. The high frequency of flights between key cities such as Heraklion and Thessaloniki makes traveling as flexible and comfortable as possible for planning.

Baggage

Baggage rules at Sky Express depend on the selected fare and destination. Most tickets include carry-on baggage weighing up to 8 kg. The maximum allowable dimensions for one piece in the cabin are 55 × 40 × 20 cm. In addition to the main carry-on, passengers can usually take a small personal item, such as a handbag or a laptop.

Regarding checked baggage, it is often not included in the most budget-friendly fares (Basic category) and requires a separate payment. In higher-tier fares, the free baggage allowance may be 20 kg or 23 kg. Exact weight limits and piece counts are always displayed during the booking process and recorded in the itinerary receipt.

If you need to transport excess baggage, it is recommended to pay for it in advance via the Sky Express website, as airport rates are significantly higher. Special items, such as sports equipment or musical instruments, are transported by prior arrangement and for an additional fee according to airline rates.

Dangerous substances are strictly prohibited for transport: flammable liquids, gases, explosive and toxic materials. Liquids in carry-on baggage must be packed in containers of no more than 100 ml each, with a total volume of up to 1 liter. To ensure the safety of your belongings, we recommend using durable suitcases and marking baggage with name tags.

Pet Rules

Pet transport in the cabin

  • Sky Express allows small pets (cats and dogs) to be transported in the cabin in special carriers.
  • The total weight of the pet including the container must not exceed 8 kg.
  • The container must be ventilated and securely closed, and its dimensions must allow it to be placed under the seat in front of you.

Transport in the baggage compartment

  • Pets whose weight with the carrier exceeds 8 kg can be transported in a heated baggage compartment.
  • For such transport, a rigid certified container appropriate for the pet's size is required.
  • Space for the pet must be requested in advance, as the number of animals on a single flight is limited.

Required documents

  • Travel requires an international veterinary passport with records of microchipping and valid vaccinations, including rabies.
  • For international flights, for example to Larnaca, additional sanitary requirements may apply.

Preparation and cost

  • The service is paid; rates depend on the pet's weight and the route.
  • Consult with a veterinarian before the flight and do not feed your pet for several hours before departure.

To clarify current rates and rules for transporting specific breeds, we recommend contacting the call center at +30 801 112 8288 or +30 215 215 6510.

Loyalty Program

Sky Express Loyalty Program

At present, Sky Express does not have a traditional loyalty program with mile accumulation and status levels. The airline focuses on providing the most affordable fares for all passengers without the need to participate in bonus systems.

Features and offers

  • Instead of miles, passengers can take advantage of special offers and discounts regularly published on the official website.
  • The airline is not a member of global alliances, so earning points for other carriers' programs on GQ flights is usually not possible.
  • Individual booking conditions may be offered for corporate clients and groups.

How to benefit

  • To track promotions and receive promo codes, it is recommended to subscribe to the airline's official newsletter.
  • When planning trips to popular islands like Mykonos or Fira, early booking is the best way to save.

Current information on discounts and partner programs can always be found in the offers section on the skyexpress.gr website.

Services

Sky Express offers high-quality service focused on comfort during flights across Greece and Europe. The main service class is Economy Class, which is divided into several fare plans. This allows passengers to determine their own set of necessary services, such as baggage or the ability to change the flight date.

The seat configuration on the company's aircraft (Airbus and ATR planes) is designed to provide optimal legroom. Onboard catering depends on the fare: light snacks and drinks are offered on many flights, while on longer routes, a paid menu with a wide selection of dishes is available. Business Class in the traditional sense is not represented on most regional flights, but premium fares include access to business lounges.

For passengers with children, priority boarding services and the possibility of free carriage of a baby stroller are provided. Travelers with disabilities are provided with assistance at the airport and on board, provided that prior notification is given. An escort service for children traveling without parents is also available.

Availability of Wi-Fi and entertainment systems depends on the aircraft type and the specific flight. Sky Express strives to provide a high level of service, emphasizing hospitality and flight safety.

Destinations

Sky Express has one of the widest route networks in Greece, connecting the mainland with the most remote islands. The company's main operational hub is the international airport in Athens, from which dozens of flights depart daily to major cities such as Thessaloniki and Heraklion.

Flight geography includes the most popular resort destinations: Rhodes, Chania, and the sunny island of Kos. Thanks to its regional fleet, the carrier provides access to small but picturesque islands, including Milos, Naxos, and Paros.

The company's international destinations are actively developing, offering convenient connections with Larnaca and other European centers. Travelers can easily plan a route to the famous islands of Mykonos and Fira, enjoying the speed and comfort of modern air travel.

Booking Tips

To find the best deals from Sky Express, we recommend booking tickets 6–8 weeks before your trip. The lowest prices are usually available for flights in the middle of the week. The official website skyexpress.gr is the main platform for purchasing, where you can see all fare options and avoid hidden fees.

Online check-in opens 48 hours and closes 3 hours before departure. We recommend completing it in advance to choose a comfortable seat and save time at the airport. Please note that seat selection may be paid in some fares. Check-in at the airport counter usually begins 180 minutes before departure.

When choosing a fare, pay attention to baggage conditions—the cheapest option often includes only carry-on baggage. Changes to bookings through the call center may be subject to a service fee, so it is more profitable to manage your ticket online. For travel during the high season to the Aegean islands, book tickets as far in advance as possible due to high demand.

History

The history of the Greek airline Sky Express (IATA: GQ) began in early 2005. Founded by aviation industry experts, the carrier aimed to improve the transport accessibility of the Greek islands. The first flights were launched in June 2005, connecting Heraklion with other regions of the country.

In the initial stage, the company developed as a regional operator specializing in domestic routes. Over time, the range of services expanded: in addition to regular passenger transport, the company began to operate charter flights, sightseeing flights, and even air taxi services. This allowed Sky Express to become an important link in the tourism infrastructure of the Aegean Sea.

The airline's fleet has undergone a significant evolution—from small ATR 42 turboprop aircraft to modern Airbus family liners. The fleet renewal allowed for expanding the geography of flights and entering the international market while maintaining a high frequency of flights on domestic lines. The company's main hub became the airport in Athens.

Today, Sky Express is one of the fastest-growing carriers in the region. The company continues to introduce technological innovations and expand its destination network in Europe, while remaining true to its mission of providing reliable and comfortable communication between mainland Greece and its island territories.
