The Hercílio Luz Bridge is not just an engineering structure, but a true symbol of Florianópolis and one of Brazil's most recognizable landmarks. This famous suspension bridge plays a key role in the city's life, connecting Santa Catarina Island, where the central part of the state capital is located, with the mainland. As the longest suspension bridge in the country, it attracts attention with its majestic design and rich history.

Opened back in 1926, the bridge has a total length of over 800 meters. It was named after Hercílio Pedro da Luz, the governor of Santa Catarina state, who initiated its construction but unfortunately did not live to see the work completed. Today, it is not only an important transportation hub but also a federal-level cultural heritage site.
After a large-scale renovation, the Hercílio Luz Bridge is once again open to pedestrians, making it a popular spot for walks among tourists and locals. It offers magnificent panoramic views of the city and the bay, especially at sunset. The bridge looks particularly impressive at night when special lighting is turned on, turning it into a bright landmark against the night sky.
