The Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding is more than just a zoo; it is the world's largest research center entirely dedicated to studying, breeding, and conserving China's symbol—the giant panda. Located just 10 kilometers from the heart of Chengdu, in the picturesque bamboo foothills of Sichuan Province, this base has become a true oasis for these amazing animals.

On its vast territory of over 3 square kilometers, the pandas' natural habitat has been recreated: there are rivers, lakes, streams, and, of course, endless bamboo groves that serve as their primary food source. The base is home to more than 150 giant pandas, making it one of the best places in the world to observe these black-and-white bears. In addition to giant pandas, you can encounter other rare animals here, such as charming red pandas, graceful black swans, and vibrant peacocks.
The Research Base's primary mission is the protection and restoration of the endangered giant panda population. Beyond scientific work, the center plays an important educational role, allowing visitors from all over the world to learn more about the biology, behavior, and conservation efforts for these unique creatures. A visit to the base is not only an opportunity to see pandas in conditions that closely mimic their natural environment but also a chance to support vital conservation work.
