The rains are often powerful but brief tropical downpours, after which nature becomes particularly lush and green.

The climate in Puntarenas is remarkably stable: it is a land of eternal summer, with almost no sharp temperature fluctuations throughout the year. The hottest period is traditionally February and March, when the average temperature reaches 27°C, and daytime highs consistently stay around 30–31°C. In the dry season, which lasts from January to March, the sun is particularly intense, so be sure to pack a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen with a high SPF factor.
