In the heart of the island's capital, Roseau, lies the magnificent Dominica Botanical Gardens—a true 40-acre tropical paradise. As the largest open space in the city, it is situated at the foot of Morne Bruce, just a stone's throw from the banks of the Roseau River. At one time, this site was considered one of the most beautiful and diverse botanical collections in the entire Caribbean.

Today, Dominica is rightfully proud of this site, which serves as both a scientific center and a picturesque park. The gardens were established on the site of former sugar cane plantations. Thanks to abundant tropical rainfall, ideal conditions have been created for hundreds of exotic plant species, covering the grounds in a lush green carpet.
Despite the severe damage caused by Hurricane David in 1979, the gardens have retained their charm and significance. The Botanical Gardens remain the country's premier "green jewel," drawing travelers with their peaceful atmosphere and unique collection of flora.
