The aquarium features more than 5,000 marine animals from all over the world, housed in more than 50 themed pools and tanks. Among the inhabitants, you can find majestic sharks, graceful rays, large green sea turtles, mysterious octopuses, and playful otters. Walking through the ten-meter glass tunnel allows you to be in the very center of the ocean tank and observe the marine creatures swimming overhead.
A special point of pride for SEA LIFE Oberhausen is Germany's largest shark nursery. The specially equipped 148-square-meter shallow-water pool provides ideal conditions for the growth of young blacktip reef sharks and other species. This exhibit offers a unique opportunity to observe the development of small predators and learn more about marine species conservation programs.
