Corfu enjoys a classic Mediterranean climate, characterised by hot, sunny summers and mild but wet winters. Thanks to sufficient rainfall during the cold season, the island is famous for its lush vegetation and picturesque green landscapes, remaining beautiful in any season.

The summer period here is ideal for a beach holiday: from June to August, the average air temperature stays around +23...+26°C, often rising higher during the day. This is the driest time of the year, especially July and August, when rain is a rarity and the sun shines almost constantly.

Winter in Corfu is warm, with the average temperature rarely dropping below +10°C; however, it is the rainy season: in November, December, and January, the number of wet days can reach 14–15 per month. Transitional seasons, such as May and September, offer an excellent balance with comfortable warmth and less rainfall, making them a wonderful time for excursions and walks.

The temperature regime in Corfu is distinguished by its mildness and lack of extreme fluctuations, which is typical for the Mediterranean climate. The annual temperature cycle changes smoothly from a cool winter to a hot summer. The warmest month is traditionally August, when the average temperature reaches 26.1°C, and daily highs often exceed 28°C. Conversely, the coldest period is considered to be January with an average figure of about 10.6°C, though even at this time, there are no severe frosts here.

Summer in Corfu is a time of stable heat. From June to September, the air warms up significantly: average figures fluctuate from 22.7°C to 26.1°C. July and August bring real summer heat, but thanks to the influence of the sea, the difference between day and night temperatures is small — nights remain very warm (about 23-24°C), creating ideal conditions for evening walks. During this period, there are practically no sharp temperature jumps, making the weather predictable and comfortable for a beach holiday.

The winter season, covering December, January, and February, is characterised by moderate coolness. The thermometer usually stays around 12-14°C during the day, and rarely drops below 8-9°C at night. Transitional months, such as April and October, offer a pleasant balance: it is not yet (or no longer) hot, but warm enough (about 14-19°C) for long city tours without the risk of overheating or getting too cold.

Corfu has a clearly defined seasonality of rainfall, typical of the Mediterranean climate. The year is clearly divided into a wet winter period and a dry summer. If you are planning a trip in the off-season, you should be prepared for frequent rains, while the summer months guarantee practically cloudless skies and dry weather.

The wettest time of the year is late autumn and early winter. The peak of rainy days falls in November and December, when precipitation can occur on average 15 days a month. January also remains rainy (about 14 days with precipitation). Since the temperature even in the coldest months rarely drops below +8°C, precipitation falls mainly in the form of rain, and snow is an extremely rare phenomenon for this region.

Summer, on the contrary, is the driest season. July is considered the month with the minimum amount of precipitation (values approach 0 mm), and rain may occur just a couple of times a month. August also pleases with stable weather with approximately 3 rainy days. This makes the middle of summer the ideal time for those who want to avoid weather surprises.

For a summer trip to Corfu, when the air temperature often exceeds 25°C and rain is a rarity, the basis of your wardrobe will be light items made of natural fabrics, such as cotton or linen. Be sure to bring swimwear, sunglasses, cream with high SPF, and a hat to protect yourself from the active Mediterranean sun. Since the city encourages long walks on cobblestones and ancient streets, it is extremely important to have comfortable, proven flat shoes with you.

Spring and early autumn delight with comfortable warmth, but the weather can be changeable, so at this time it is better to adhere to the principle of layering. T-shirts should be combined with light cardigans or windbreakers, which can be taken off in the middle of the day and put on during a cool evening. If you are planning a trip in late autumn or winter (especially from November to January), be prepared for the rainy season: a waterproof jacket, a high-quality raincoat, and a sturdy umbrella will become your main companions. Also, do not forget a warm sweater, as with high humidity, a temperature of about 10–12°C feels cooler.
