How to get to Deoghar

The sacred city of Deoghar, located in eastern India, is known as the "Abode of Gods" and serves as a vital pilgrimage centre in the state of Jharkhand. This destination attracts travellers with its unique spiritual atmosphere, ancient temples, and rich cultural heritage. When planning a trip, tourists will find that there are various ways to reach this location: from a direct flight to a scenic journey by train or car.

The fastest and most convenient way to reach the city is to take a flight to the local Deoghar Airport (DGH). This modern aviation hub is well-connected to the region, allowing travellers to save significant travel time.

Alternatively, one can consider flying to neighbouring cities followed by a transfer. The nearest options include the airport in the city of Durgapur (about 124 km) and the air hub in Gaya (175 km). Many tourists also choose a flight to Ranchi (189 km), from where it is convenient to continue the journey.

Rail travel is one of the most popular ways to reach these holy sites. The city is served by Deoghar Junction; however, the main gateway for most tourists is the major railway hub Jasidih Junction, located just a few kilometres from the centre and receiving trains from all over India.
