The Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Memorial is a modern memorial complex built in honor of India's 11th President, an outstanding scientist and engineer often referred to as "The Missile Man of India." Located in his hometown of Rameshwaram, this memorial is more than just a monument; it is a true center of inspiration. It is dedicated to the life and legacy of Abdul Kalam, who made an invaluable contribution to the country's science and education.
The complex serves as an important educational center designed to motivate the younger generation to follow the ideals of the "People's President." The architecture of the building tells a story itself, combining elements of Mughal and Indian styles. The main entrance resembles the Gateway of India, and the main dome is designed after the Rashtrapati Bhavan (Presidential Palace). Inside, the memorial is divided into four halls where key moments of Dr. Kalam's life and multifaceted activities are revealed through paintings, murals, and hundreds of portraits.
