Part of the famous national chain PT Ramayana Lestari Sentosa, this department store caters to a wide range of shoppers. In Indonesia, the Ramayana brand has long been synonymous with affordable shopping, offering quality goods at reasonable prices. You are just as likely to see locals picking out household items as you are to see tourists looking for everyday clothes or accessories.

The facility functions as a versatile shopping hub, housing many departments under one roof. Ramayana Pangkalpinang is not just a store, but a place to feel the rhythm of a modern Indonesian city, discover local brands, and spend time in a comfortable, air-conditioned environment—which is particularly valuable in the tropical climate.

What to Do

Visiting Ramayana Pangkalpinang is primarily an excellent opportunity for a comprehensive "one-stop" shopping experience. Visitors can stroll through the spacious halls, choosing fashionable clothing, footwear, and accessories for the whole family. A wide range of both everyday items and goods for special occasions is available here.

In addition to fashion, the shopping center features departments for electronics, household goods, and cosmetics. It is a great place to observe local life and pick up practical souvenirs or items that will come in handy for further travel around the island.

After shopping, it is worth stopping by the small cafes or restaurants located within the complex. Here you can grab a snack of local cuisine, take a break from the hot sun, and simply socialize. For many city residents, the shopping center serves as a regular spot for meeting friends and family outings on weekends.

Getting There

The shopping center is conveniently located in the central part of Pangkalpinang, near the traditional market, making it easily accessible for both locals and visitors. A helpful landmark is the Girimaya district and the old terminal (terminal lama), which are well known to all drivers.

To get around the city, tourists most often choose taxis or motorcycle taxis (ojek), which are very popular in Indonesia. For a more comfortable ride, we recommend using ride-hailing apps like Grab or Gojek, or asking your hotel receptionist to call a car for you.

If you have just arrived on Bangka Island, the drive from Pangkal Pinang International Airport (Bandara Internasional Pangkal Pinang) takes only about 15–20 minutes, depending on traffic. A private or rental car is also a great option, as the shopping center provides parking facilities.

History & Facts

The history of this shopping complex is inextricably linked to the development of one of the most successful retail chains in the region. PT Ramayana Lestari Sentosa was founded on December 14, 1983, by Paulus Tumewu, his wife Tan Li Chuan, and their partner Agus Makmur, laying the foundation for a future retail giant.

Interestingly, the very first store under the Ramayana Fashion Store brand opened even earlier, in 1974, on Sabang Street in Jakarta. At that time, it was a small outlet specializing exclusively in clothing. The success of the concept allowed the owners to expand rapidly: by the end of the 1970s, new branches were opening in the capital, and in 1985, the brand expanded beyond Jakarta, opening a store in Bandung.

Over time, Ramayana grew into a massive network spanning the entire Indonesian archipelago. The opening of the branch in Pangkalpinang was part of a large-scale expansion strategy in the 1990s and 2000s, aimed at providing quality and affordable goods to residents across the country's many islands.

Time Needed

To leisurely browse the range of goods at Ramayana Pangkalpinang, visitors usually need between 2 to 4 hours. This is plenty of time for relaxed shopping, trying on clothes, and visiting the grocery departments.

If your plans include more than just shopping—such as relaxing at one of the local cafes or visiting the food court with your family—it is worth setting aside half a day. The atmosphere of the shopping center lends itself to a relaxed pace, especially on weekends when many local residents gather here.

Working Hours

The shopping center is open to visitors daily, making it easy to fit into your sightseeing schedule. From Monday to Friday, as well as on Sunday, Ramayana Pangkalpinang is open from 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM.

If you are planning an evening shopping trip or a stroll, Saturday is the best day to visit, as the complex stays open longer than usual—from 9:00 AM until midnight (00:00). This makes the department store an excellent place to wrap up a Saturday evening in the city.
