Located in the historic center of Grosseto, this museum is a true treasure trove of regional history. The Maremma Museum of Archaeology and Art (MAAM) is housed in a former courthouse on Piazza Baccarini, offering guests a unique immersion into the past of Southern Tuscany. Italy is famous for its antiquities, and this site is no exception: it houses artifacts spanning from the Paleolithic era to the late Middle Ages.

The museum space is divided into 40 rooms spread across three floors. The primary focus is on the Etruscan and Roman periods, specifically the history of the ancient city of Rusellae. Beyond archaeological finds, the museum includes a rich collection of sacred art, featuring works by prominent masters of the Sienese school, making it a must-visit for lovers of aesthetics and history.
Of particular value are the rare Etruscan urns and the famous 6th-century BC bucchero bowl, which bears one of the oldest known alphabets. Visitors appreciate not only the wealth of the collection but also the well-organized exhibition space, which allows one to trace the evolution of human civilization in the Maremma region.
