The weather here is characterised by mildness and a lack of sharp temperature changes: exhausting heat happens rarely, and severe frosts do not occur at all, creating comfortable conditions for exploring the city.

The summer season is characterised by an abundance of sun and warmth. From June to August, precipitation falls extremely rarely, and the average air temperature fluctuates in a pleasant range from 22°C to 26°C. This is the ideal time for those who want to enjoy a beach holiday and long walks by the sea, enjoying the clear days.

Winter and late autumn bring coolness and rain, especially in November and December, when the number of wet days noticeably increases. Nevertheless, even in the coldest months, the temperature remains above zero, usually staying at the level of 10–12°C during the day, which allows for comfortable sightseeing if you take an umbrella with you.

The climate in Sorrento delights travellers with its mildness and lack of sharp temperature fluctuations, which is characteristic of southern Italy. The annual temperature cycle changes smoothly from a moderately cool winter to a hot summer. The coldest month is usually January with an average temperature of about 10°C, while the peak of the heat falls on August, when average figures reach 25–26°C.

The summer season brings steady warmth and sun. In July and August, daytime highs often approach the 28°C mark. A feature of the local climate is the small difference between day and night temperatures in the summer period: nights remain very warm (about 23°C), which allows for comfortable walks by the sea after sunset without warm clothing. Thanks to the proximity of the sea, the summer heat here does not seem stifling, but rather pleasant for a beach holiday.

Winter in Sorrento is not severe at all and resembles a prolonged autumn. Even in the coolest months, such as February, the night temperature rarely drops below 8°C, and during the day the air warms up to a comfortable 12–13°C. This time of year is excellent for excursions if you do not like the heat. Spring and autumn serve as a wonderful transition with temperatures from 14°C to 22°C, when the weather becomes the most balanced and pleasant for walking.

Precipitation in Sorrento is distributed unevenly throughout the year, following the classic Mediterranean pattern: a humid mild winter and a dry sunny summer. Since the temperature even in the coldest months rarely drops below 8°C, precipitation falls mainly in the form of rain, and snow here is an exceptional rarity.

When packing for Sorrento in summer (from June to August), give preference to light clothing made from natural fabrics, such as cotton or linen, to comfortably endure the heat. Since precipitation is practically absent in July and August, and the daytime temperature often reaches 28°C, be sure to put sunglasses, a wide-brimmed hat, and high SPF cream in your suitcase. Do not forget swimwear, as the sunny weather is ideal for a beach holiday.

If you are planning a trip in the off-season or winter (from November to March), be prepared for cooler and wetter weather. In these months, especially in November and January, the number of rainy days increases, so a waterproof jacket, a raincoat, and a sturdy umbrella will become indispensable items. Use the layering principle: a combination of a T-shirt, a warm jumper, and a windbreaker will allow you to easily adapt to temperature changes, which range from 8°C to 16°C.

Regardless of the time of year, the most important item on the packing list should be comfortable flat-soled shoes. Sorrento is a city with hilly terrain, many stairs, and ancient cobblestones, so proven trainers or sandals with secure foot support are best suited for long walks. High-heeled shoes are best left for dinner at a restaurant, as walking in them through the historic centre can be tiring.
