When packing for Kokshetau, it is important to consider the features of the sharply continental climate of Northern Kazakhstan. If your journey falls in the period from November to March, be prepared for serious cold: temperatures often drop below -15°C. At this time of year, a quality down jacket or heavy coat, a set of thermal underwear, a warm hat, a scarf, and mittens are vital. Pay special attention to footwear — it should be insulated, with a thick non-slip sole, to move comfortably on snowy streets.

Summer here, on the contrary, delights with warmth and sunny days, when the thermometer rises to +25°C. For a trip in June-August, light items made of natural fabrics, sunglasses, and headwear are perfect. However, even in the hottest months, evenings can be cool, and in the off-season (April, May, September, October), the weather is altogether changeable. The best strategy is to dress according to the principle of layering: a T-shirt, a fleece sweater, and a light jacket will allow you to quickly adapt to temperature changes throughout the day.

Regardless of the season, be sure to take comfortable, proven footwear for excursions and long walks. Although precipitation is low, statistics show the presence of wet days in every month, so a compact umbrella or raincoat will not take up much space in your luggage but can be very useful.
