The climate of Beirut can be described as classic Mediterranean, making the city an attractive destination for travellers almost all year round. An atmosphere of warmth and comfort prevails here, without extreme frosts. The proximity of the sea plays a key role, softening temperature fluctuations and creating comfortable conditions, although the character of the weather changes significantly depending on the season.

The year here is clearly divided into two contrasting periods: a hot, dry summer and a mild, wet winter. From June to September, rain is an exceptional rarity, precipitation is practically absent, and the sun shines brightly, warming the air to an average of 26°C and above. This is the ideal time for those seeking guaranteed sunshine. Winter, lasting from December to February, brings coolness with average temperatures around 10–13°C and regular rains, which are the main source of moisture for the region.

The transitional seasons — spring and autumn — are distinguished by particularly pleasant conditions. In April, May, and October, warm but not exhausting weather sets in, when the number of rainy days is minimal. This time is considered one of the best for hiking and exploring the country's culture, as it allows you to enjoy sunny days without the intense summer heat.

Beirut welcomes travellers with a mild Mediterranean climate, which makes the city attractive to visit almost all year round. The annual temperature graph here is smooth, without extreme spikes. The coolest months are traditionally January and February, when the average air temperature is around 10–11°C, and night-time figures can drop to 7°C. The peak of the heat falls in August: at this time, the city warms up on average to 26°C, while daytime highs remain steadily around the 30°C mark.

The summer season, starting in June and extending through September, is characterised by steady warmth. During the day, the air warms up to 26–29°C, creating ideal conditions for a beach holiday, while exhausting heat is a rare phenomenon here. Nights in the summer period remain very warm and comfortable, with temperatures around 20–22°C, allowing you to enjoy long evening walks without the need to wrap up warm.

Winter in the capital of Lebanon passes mildly: even on the coldest days of January and December, the daytime temperature rarely drops below 13°C, so frosts are practically excluded here. It is worth noting that the temperature difference between day and night in Beirut is quite moderate, averaging 4–7 degrees throughout the year. This makes acclimatisation easy, and the weather predictable and pleasant for both active tourism and relaxed leisure.

Precipitation in Beirut is distributed unevenly throughout the year, which is typical for a classic Mediterranean climate. The wettest period falls during the winter months. The undisputed leader in terms of inclement days is January: it rains on average 16 days a month. December and February are also distinguished by high humidity, when precipitation is observed for 11–12 days. Given that the temperature even in winter rarely drops below +7°C, precipitation falls exclusively in the form of rain.

Summer, on the contrary, represents a distinct dry season. From June to September, rain in the capital of Lebanon is an exceptional rarity. In July and August, the probability of precipitation tends to zero, and the number of rainy days is minimal (often none for the entire month). This time of year guarantees tourists clear skies and is ideally suited for a beach holiday without the risk of getting wet.

The transitional seasons demonstrate a gradual change in weather conditions. March still remains a fairly rainy month with 14 days of precipitation, however, by May their frequency drops sharply to 5 days. In autumn, the cycle repeats in reverse order: after a dry September and a relatively comfortable October, in November preparation for the winter season begins, and the number of rainy days increases to ten.

When packing for Beirut in the summer months, give preference to light clothing made from natural breathable fabrics, such as cotton or linen. From June to September, the weather is hot and dry, with daytime temperatures often rising to 30°C, and there is practically no rain. Be sure to put sunglasses, a hat, and high-factor sunscreen in your suitcase to feel comfortable under the bright Mediterranean sun.

If your trip is planned for the winter period, it is worth preparing for cooler and wetter weather. January and February are the rainiest months, so a waterproof windbreaker, a quality umbrella, and closed shoes will be simply essential. The air temperature in winter rarely drops below 7°C, but due to humidity, it may seem cooler, so a warm sweater or jacket will not be superfluous.

For spring and autumn, when the weather is most comfortable for long walks, it is best to use the layering principle. During the day it can be warm enough for T-shirts, but evenings in Lebanon can be fresh, and a light jumper or cardigan will come in handy. At any time of the year, do not forget to take comfortable walking shoes to explore the picturesque streets of the city without fatigue.
