In the heart of the historic center of Braga lies a stunning architectural ensemble — the Coimbras Chapel and House (Capela e Casa dos Coimbras). This complex is one of the most brilliant examples of the Manueline style in the region and is dedicated to the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary. Since 1910, the site has held the prestigious status of a National Monument, attracting travelers with its exquisite carvings and centuries of history.

The ensemble consists of a small but richly decorated chapel and the adjacent Coimbra family home. The architectural appearance of the chapel is notable for its rectangular tower and elegant portal, which features the founders' family coat of arms. Inside, visitors will find magnificent ribbed vaults, gilded rosettes, and walls lined with traditional Portuguese azulejo tiles, depicting scenes of the creation of the world.
Today, Portugal carefully preserves this heritage: following extensive renovations, a modern art gallery has opened in the Coimbra house. This is a place where ancient stone walls and Manueline windows harmoniously coexist with works of contemporary art, creating a unique cultural atmosphere.
