The monument, officially opened in May 2013, depicts a group of three servicemen standing back-to-back. They symbolize the unity of the land, sea, and air forces guarding the borders of Russia. The grand opening of the monument took place in 2013 and was timed to a double anniversary: the 75th anniversary of the Murmansk region and the 95th anniversary of the border service. Today, the square is under the constant patronage of border guards, and flower-laying ceremonies are traditionally held here on professional holidays.
