The Monument to Semyon the Cat is one of the most touching and beloved local landmarks tucked away in Murmansk. This small bronze sculpture, located on the shores of Lake Semyonovskoye, is dedicated to a legendary cat that displayed incredible loyalty to its owners.

The sculptural composition features a plump Siamese cat, 1.2 meters high, nestled comfortably on a long bronze bench. In its paws, Semyon clutches a stick with a traveler's bundle, as if he has just completed his long and difficult journey. The entire monument weighs about 120 kg and symbolizes the loyalty of pets, becoming a true mascot that guards the comfort of residents in a country like Russia.
This art object was created thanks to a grassroots initiative and a public vote. The project by Moscow sculptor Nadezhda Vinyukova was chosen from many others for its soulfulness and kindness. Today, this spot attracts not only tourists but also locals who appreciate the story of the little hero's incredible journey.
