One of the park's main features is its design: a significant part of the territory, consisting of 2.3 hectares of pristine forest, is covered by a special net. This engineering solution allows birds to fly freely in conditions as close as possible to their natural habitat. As of 2014, the park was home to approximately 3,500 birds representing more than 200 species.
The Umgeni River Bird Park is a true sanctuary for nature lovers and birdwatchers. Walking along its well-kept paths provides a wonderful opportunity not only to admire rare and colorful birds up close but also to learn a lot about their behavior and lifestyle. This place is perfect for both quiet, contemplative relaxation and educational family visits, leaving unforgettable impressions on every guest in Durban.
