General Weather Overview

The climate in Reus can be described as typical Mediterranean, making this city an attractive destination for travellers practically all year round. The weather here is generally mild and comfortable, without extreme cold, and the proximity to the sea softens temperature fluctuations. This place is excellent for those who prefer enjoying sunny days and avoiding harsh weather conditions.

Summer in the region is hot and quite dry: in July and August, the average temperature often exceeds 25°C, and daily highs regularly reach the 31°C mark. Winter, by contrast, is distinguished by its mildness—even in the coldest months, such as January and December, the average temperature holds around 8–9°C, rarely dropping to freezing levels. Spring and autumn delight with pleasant warmth, creating ideal conditions for city walks and excursions.

Precipitation in Reus is distributed unevenly, but prolonged downpours are a rarity here. The highest number of rainy days (up to 11 per month) usually falls in early autumn, especially in September, whereas the middle of summer remains the driest and sunniest period. Overall, the weather is characterized by stability, allowing tourists to easily plan their holiday, expecting predominantly clear skies and comfortable temperatures.

Temperature

The climate of Reus is distinguished by a pronounced Mediterranean character, offering tourists a mild winter and a hot, sunny summer. The coldest month of the year is traditionally January with an average temperature of about +7.7°C; however, even in the height of winter, severe frosts are rare here. Conversely, the peak heat occurs in July and August, when average figures hold at the level of +25.6°C, and daily highs regularly exceed the +31°C mark, creating ideal conditions for heat lovers.

The summer period in the city can be characterized as sweltering and dry. In July and August, the air warms up to +30...+31°C during the day, while nights remain very warm and comfortable with temperatures around +20°C. The transitional seasons delight with pleasant mildness: already in May, daytime temperatures reach a comfortable +23°C, and September, serving as a "velvet season", retains summer warmth with average values around +21°C before autumn begins to gradually set in during October and November.

Winter months in Reus pass calmly and without extreme cold. In December and February, the daytime temperature often rises to +13...+15°C, which allows for comfortable sightseeing. However, travellers should take into account noticeable daily fluctuations in temperature: the difference between daytime warmth and nighttime coolness can be around 10 degrees. For example, in January, after a midday +12°C, the air can cool down to +3°C at night, so warm clothing for evening walks will not be amiss.

Precipitation

The climate in Reus is characterized by a moderate amount of precipitation, which falls predominantly in the form of rain. Snow here is an extremely rare phenomenon, as even in the coldest winter months, the temperature usually stays above zero. Overall, the weather is conducive to travel year-round, but it is worth considering seasonal humidity fluctuations when planning a trip.

The highest frequency of rains is observed in early autumn and spring. The "wettest" month in terms of inclement days is September (about 11 days with precipitation), followed by October, March, April, and May, when it may rain approximately 9 days per month. October also stands out slightly for the total volume of falling moisture compared to the rest of the year.

Those who love dry and clear weather should choose mid-summer or winter for their visit. In July, as well as in December and February, the number of rainy days drops to a minimum—averaging about 4 days per month. This makes the summer period ideal for long walks, and the winter months sufficiently comfortable for a leisurely inspection of the city's architecture.

What to Pack

Summer in Reus is usually hot and sunny, with daytime temperatures often exceeding 30°C, so for a trip from June to August, choose light clothing made of natural fabrics such as cotton or linen. Be sure to take care of protection from the active Spanish sun: quality sunscreen, sunglasses, and a wide-brimmed hat or cap will become your indispensable companions during excursions.

In the off-season and winter, the weather becomes more changeable, and the best solution is the principle of layering in clothing. In spring and autumn, especially in September, the number of rainy days increases, so it is worth finding space in your suitcase for a compact umbrella or a light raincoat. Winters here are mild, but in the evenings the temperature can drop to 3-5°C, so a warm sweater, a mid-season jacket, and a scarf will be very useful.

Regardless of the time of year, the main item on your list of things should be comfortable shoes. Reus is a city that is best explored on foot, enjoying its Modernist architecture, so reliable trainers or flat-soled shoes are simply necessary for long walks. Also, note that the city is known for its shopping, so it might be worth leaving a little extra space in your luggage for purchases.
