When preparing for a journey to Dodoma, prioritise comfort and breathability. Since the climate here is predominantly warm, the foundation of your wardrobe should consist of clothing made from natural fabrics, such as cotton and linen. Be sure to bring high-quality sunscreen, sunglasses, and a wide-brimmed hat — the sun in Tanzania is active year-round, and UV protection is necessary even on cloudy days.
The contents of your luggage will depend on the time of year. If your trip falls during the rainy season (especially from January to April), do not forget a light raincoat or a compact umbrella, as well as quick-drying footwear. In the dry season, which lasts from May to October, rainfall is unlikely, yet nights can be quite fresh with temperatures around +15°C. For evening walks, we recommend using the layering principle: bring along a light jacket, a windbreaker, or a warm sweater.
For long walks around the city, comfortable, broken-in flat shoes, such as trainers or sandals with secure straps, are ideal. Given the climatic features, it is also worth packing insect repellents in your first-aid kit, which will be particularly useful during the humid months.
