General Weather Overview

The climate of Entebbe can be described as mild and pleasant tropical. Thanks to its proximity to the equator and the moderating influence of the vast Lake Victoria, the weather here is surprisingly stable throughout the year. Instead of sweltering African heat, travellers are greeted by comfortable warmth resembling an eternal summer, making the city an excellent destination to visit in any season.

The temperature pattern is distinguished by enviable consistency: average daytime figures practically do not change from month to month, hovering in the range of +24...+27°C. Nights here bring pleasant freshness when the thermometer drops to +19...+20°C. There are no sharp seasonal temperature changes here, so you won't have to worry about cold weather or extreme heat.

An important feature of the local climate is the fairly high humidity and regular rainfall, which ensures the region has lush greenery. It rains often, especially during the periods from March to May and from October to December; however, it usually pours in the form of short tropical showers, quickly replaced by sunshine. The period from June to August can be considered a relatively dry season, when the number of rainy days drops to a minimum.

Temperature

Entebbe is famous for its surprisingly stable and comfortable climate, which is due to its proximity to the equator and the moderating influence of Lake Victoria. Sharp seasonal changes characteristic of temperate latitudes are practically absent here. The average monthly temperature throughout the year fluctuates within a very narrow and pleasant range from 22°C to 24°C. This makes the city an ideal place for those who like neither extreme heat nor cold.

The warmest month is traditionally February, when the average temperature reaches 23.8°C, and daily highs rise to almost 27°C. During this period, the weather feels like a mild, non-scorching summer. The "coolest" time of the year can be called July with an average temperature of 22.1°C, however, even then, comfortable warmth reigns here, and the concept of "winter" is completely inapplicable to this climate. The difference between the hottest and coldest months is less than two degrees, which is practically unnoticeable for a tourist.

Daily temperature fluctuations in Entebbe are also minimal and predictable. The difference between the daily maximum and nightly minimum is usually about 5–6 degrees. Days here are warm, but thanks to cloud cover, they are rarely stuffy, and nights bring pleasant freshness, but not cold. The temperature after dark holds steady at 19–20°C year-round, which allows for enjoying evening walks in light clothing in any season.

Precipitation

The climate in Entebbe is defined by its equatorial location and proximity to the vast Lake Victoria, which ensures high humidity and regular precipitation throughout the year. There is no sharp division into winter and summer here, and the weather remains warm and stable. However, tourists should be prepared for the fact that rain is a frequent occurrence here, and there are practically no completely dry months.

The greatest amount of precipitation and cloudy days falls into two main periods. The first and most intense rainy season lasts from March to May, peaking in April, when up to 27 rainy days per month are recorded. The second wet period covers the end of the year, especially November, which is also distinguished by a high frequency of rainfall (about 26 days with rain). During these months, downpours can occur daily, although they often have a short-term tropical character.

The relatively dry season in Entebbe is less pronounced, but a noticeable decrease in rain is observed in the middle of summer. The "driest" month of the year is July: the number of days with precipitation drops to 12, and the general humidity level falls to a minimum. January, February, and June are also considered more favourable for travel, as the probability of prolonged rains at this time is lower than in spring or late autumn.

What to Pack

Entebbe welcomes travellers with comfortable warmth all year round, so the basis of your luggage should consist of light clothing made from natural breathable fabrics, such as cotton and linen. Since the daytime temperature holds steadily around +22…+26°C, T-shirts, loose trousers, and shorts will be the most practical choice. However, evenings by Lake Victoria can bring freshness when the thermometer drops to +19°C, so be sure to bring a hoodie, light sweater, or windbreaker, using the layering principle.

Special attention should be paid to protection from moisture: statistics show a large number of rainy days throughout the year, especially in March-April and October-November. A compact umbrella or a quality raincoat are mandatory items on the packing list. In addition, do not forget comfortable closed-toe shoes for long walks, sunscreen, and a hat, as even in cloudy weather, the equatorial sun remains active.
