History & Facts

The history of this place is quite unusual for a gastronomic establishment. The building at 1009 Main Street was built in 1969 and served as an Exxon gas station for decades. It was a full-service garage with three bays where car repairs and maintenance were performed until the station closed around 2010.

In 2014, urban studies revealed a severe shortage of restaurants in the historic Old West End district. Initially, there were plans to turn the building into a regular store, but the architectural commission rejected the plan, aiming to preserve the character of the neighborhood. Eventually, in 2017, local entrepreneurs Steve DelGiorno and Rick Barker took over, deciding to breathe new life into the old garage as part of the "New Danville" movement.

During a large-scale renovation, underground fuel tanks were removed and the concrete was cleaned, yet the architects preserved the industrial spirit: massive garage doors and open spaces became the interior's signature features. The official opening of Crema & Vine in October 2017 was a major event for local residents and SOVAH Health medical center workers, turning a former gas station into a stylish hub of attraction.

Time Needed

Visitors typically spend between 1 and 2 hours at Crema & Vine. This is plenty of time to enjoy drinks, have a snack, and take in the details of the unique industrial interior or browse the on-site gift shop.

If you plan to attend one of the local events, such as a morning yoga class occasionally hosted by partners from Hot Asana Yoga Studio, you should allow about 3 hours for your visit. In any case, the relaxed atmosphere encourages you to take your time.
