Fantasy Lake Adventure Park

About

Imagine a crystal-clear 65-acre lake surrounded by picturesque forests—this is the heart of Fantasy Lake Adventure Park. Located near the city of Raleigh in the USA, this unique destination occupies the site of a former stone quarry. Today, it's not just a body of water, but the largest scuba diving park on the entire East Coast, offering guests a perfect mix of high-energy adventure and beachside relaxation.

One of the park's main highlights is its pristine white sand beaches. Creating them required over 40 truckloads of sand brought in specially from Topsail Beach. The entire 100-acre territory is meticulously designed for family vacations, featuring everything from extreme zones for thrill-seekers to quiet corners with private floating cabanas.

The park is clearly divided into functional zones: a section for certified scuba diving with underwater surprises, a massive Wibit inflatable water obstacle course, and a dedicated Wibit Jr. zone for the youngest guests. Safety rules are strictly enforced, so swimming is only permitted as part of organized activities, making the experience predictable and comfortable for everyone.

What to Do

The main draw for active leisure enthusiasts is the giant Wibit inflatable water obstacle course. Here, you can jump, climb up inflatable walls, and slide down high slides. For those who prefer a more tranquil way to navigate the lake, kayaks and SUP boards are available for rent, allowing you to explore the secluded corners of the quarry at your own pace.

Adrenaline junkies can take advantage of the park's cliff jumping areas. There are two platforms to choose from: an extreme 80-foot drop (about 24 meters) and a more moderate 20-foot ledge. Jumping is included in the general admission price, so anyone can test their courage. Additionally, the park recently introduced the El Jefe slide, which stands at a height comparable to the cliff jumping ledge.

Divers will find a true underwater museum at Fantasy Lake. Descending to depths of up to 60 feet (about 18 meters), you can explore sunken planes, a bus, cars, and several boats. If you're in the mood for pure relaxation, you can rent Aquabanas—floating platforms with umbrellas—or spend time on the shore playing pickleball or cornhole to the music drifting from the food trucks.

Getting There

Reaching this aquatic oasis is easy if you are in the Raleigh area. The park is located in Wake Forest at 3601 Quarry Rd. The drive from the city center takes approximately 20–30 minutes. The most convenient routes are via the NC-98 or I-540 highways. For navigation, you can use the coordinates POINT(-78.4270671 35.9106889) or simply enter the park's name into Google Maps.

The site features convenient parking divided into zones: one closer to the entrance for divers and another near the inflatable water park area. If you don't plan on driving, the best option is to order a taxi or Uber from Raleigh or Wake Forest, as public transportation options in the area are very limited.

Please note that pets are not allowed in the park. When packing, don't forget your swimsuits and towels, and try to arrive a little early to secure a parking spot and prepare for your scheduled session.

History & Facts

The history of this site dates back to the 19th century when it served as an active stone quarry. The granite extracted here was of such high quality that it was used for major infrastructure projects, including the construction of the famous Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel.

A turning point occurred in the 1950s. During quarrying operations, a powerful natural spring was breached, which unexpectedly and rapidly filled the massive basin with crystal-clear water. This created the 65-acre lake that became the foundation for the future adventure park.

In 1980, the property was acquired by a new owner who recognized the potential of the flooded quarry and transformed it into a specialized scuba diving training center. Over time, planes, buses, and boats were intentionally submerged to create a unique underwater training ground for divers. Today, Fantasy Lake Adventure Park is a modern, multi-functional resort that has maintained its natural authenticity while earning high praise from thousands of travelers.

Time Needed

To fully enjoy everything the park has to offer, we recommend planning a visit of 4 to 6 hours. A two-hour session at the inflatable water park or a scuba dive is only part of the program. You'll likely want to leave time for kayaking, cliff jumping, and some relaxing downtime on the beach.

For families with children or large groups, a trip to Fantasy Lake Adventure Park can easily turn into a full-day adventure. Factoring in time for lunch at the food trucks and relaxing in the shade of the cabanas, you can easily spend from opening until closing here without even noticing.

Working Hours

Fantasy Lake Adventure Park is typically open to visitors daily from 08:00 to 17:00. This schedule is convenient for both early-morning divers and families visiting during the day.

However, operating hours may vary depending on the season, weather conditions, or private events. We strongly recommend checking the official website or calling to confirm current information before your trip to ensure your visit goes smoothly.
