Nestled among the scenic landscapes of Wake County is Historic Yates Mill County Park — a unique corner of living history located just a few kilometers from the city of Raleigh. This 174-acre park in the USA is home to the last standing water-powered gristmill in the region, built back in the mid-18th century.

The centerpiece of the complex is the fully restored Yates Mill, which remains in working order today. In addition to the historic structure itself, visitors will find a 20-acre lake, a network of hiking trails, and the modern Finley Center, which houses a museum dedicated to both industrial history and the rich local ecology.
Today, the park serves not only as a popular recreational spot but also as an important research and educational site. Through a partnership with North Carolina State University, it regularly hosts research projects and classes, allowing guests to connect with North Carolina's agricultural heritage and natural diversity.
