History & Facts

The history of this place began back in the 1920s, when the current Vivilore building was a typical private residence. Over the decades, it gradually transformed: the owners expanded it, added new sections, and even raised the roof, until the street-facing facade took on its current elegant appearance in 1951.

Before the restaurant opened here, the building was occupied by Sermon-Anderson, a company specializing in interior design and antiques. It is noteworthy that the craftsmen of this firm once created the window draperies for the home of the 33rd U.S. President, Harry Truman, and one of the firm's founders was a close friend of his.

The modern chapter of the establishment's history began in 2010 when siblings Whit Ross and Cindy Foster, lifelong residents of the city, purchased the vacant building. Despite a lack of experience in the restaurant business (Cindy had previously spent 23 years as a pilot), they dedicated two years to a meticulous renovation of the premises.

Opening in 2012, Vivilore quickly became a local landmark. The owners managed to preserve the spirit of an old mansion, filling it with art and antiques, which turned an ordinary meal into a journey back in time.

Time Needed

A visit to Vivilore is not an occasion to rush. To fully enjoy the aesthetics of the place, we recommend setting aside 2 to 3 hours for your visit. This will be enough time to enjoy a leisurely lunch and explore the extensive exhibits.

Typically, the meal itself takes about 1–1.5 hours, while a walk through the three-story art gallery and antique shop takes another 30–60 minutes. If you plan to spend time on the picturesque terrace during the warmer months, you may want to linger even longer.

Working Hours

Please note that Vivilore operates on a special schedule and is closed to visitors at the beginning of the week. Monday, Tuesday, and Sunday are days off.

From Wednesday to Saturday, the establishment welcomes guests in two shifts: for lunch from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM and for dinner from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. It is also worth considering the seasonality: the picturesque garden terrace typically closes for the winter period immediately after Halloween celebrations.
