About

AJet (IATA: VF) is a modern Turkish airline operating in the low-cost carrier segment and a wholly-owned subsidiary of the renowned carrier Turkish Airlines. The company's primary mission is to make air travel as accessible as possible while maintaining the high safety standards and service quality inherited from its parent brand. The airline's main bases are the country's largest aviation hubs — Istanbul (Sabiha Gökçen Airport) and Ankara.

The carrier positions itself as a classic low-cost airline with a flexible fare structure, allowing passengers to pay only for the services they truly need. The AJet fleet consists of reliable and modern narrow-body aircraft from the Boeing 737 family, which provide efficient flights across Turkey and to dozens of international destinations. Key features of the airline include a simple booking process, modern digital services, and a focus on punctuality. Following its transition to the new brand in 2024, the company updated its approach to customer interaction, offering more convenient tools for online check-in and flight management. AJet is not a member of global aviation alliances, but it is closely integrated into the flight network of its parent company.

For travelers, AJet opens up wide opportunities to explore Turkey's regions and fly to Europe at attractive prices. The airline actively develops routes to popular tourist centers and business metropolises, offering convenient connections at its base airports. The combination of a budget model and the powerful support of a major aviation holding makes this carrier one of the most promising players in the Mediterranean market.

Baggage

Baggage rules at AJet (IATA: VF) follow low-cost carrier standards, where allowances depend on the selected fare plan and flight type.

Carry-on baggage: Passengers are allowed to take one piece of carry-on baggage weighing up to 8 kg into the cabin. The maximum allowable dimensions are 55 × 40 × 23 cm. In addition to the main bag, a small personal item (such as a handbag or laptop) is usually permitted and must fit under the seat in front of you.

Checked baggage: On domestic flights within Turkey, the standard free baggage allowance is 15 kg. For international destinations, the allowance may vary: some fares do not include baggage, while others provide a piece weighing from 20 kg. As the company operates on a low-cost model, there is no single business class with extended allowances, but more flexible fares including extra weight are available.

Excess and special baggage: Surcharges for overweight items are applied according to the airline's rates, which are cheaper if paid in advance online. Sports equipment (skis, surfboards, bicycles) and musical instruments are accepted for carriage by prior arrangement and for an additional fee. Strollers and car seats for infants are usually carried free of charge in the baggage hold.

Prohibited items: Flammable substances, toxic materials, weapons (without special permission), and other dangerous goods are prohibited for carriage. It is recommended to pack fragile items in hard suitcases and use protective wrap to ensure baggage safety during handling.

Pet Rules

Pet Carriage in the Cabin

  • Small pets (cats, dogs, and some bird species) are allowed.
  • The maximum weight of the pet including the carrier usually should not exceed 8 kg.
  • The dimensions of the container must comply with standards (approximately 55 × 40 × 23 cm) so that it fits freely under the seat in front.
  • The carrier must be soft or hard, waterproof, and well-ventilated.

Carriage in the Baggage Hold

  • Pets whose weight exceeds the cabin limits are transported in a heated cargo hold.
  • The crate must be certified for air travel, have a secure lock, and be large enough for the animal to stand and turn around.
  • Weight and cost restrictions depend on the aircraft type and flight duration.

Required Documents

  • A valid international veterinary passport.
  • A vaccination certificate (rabies vaccination is mandatory, given no earlier than one year and no later than one month before departure).
  • A veterinary certificate or health certificate required by the destination country.

Cost and Preparation

  • The pet carriage service is always paid and is not included in the free baggage allowance.
  • It is recommended not to feed the pet 4-6 hours before the flight, but to provide access to water.
  • Restrictions: Brachycephalic (flat-faced) breeds of dogs and cats may be restricted from carriage (due to the risk of breathing problems), as well as pregnant females and kittens/puppies under 10-12 weeks old.

Be sure to contact the AJet call center at least 48 hours before departure, as the number of pet spaces on board is limited.

Loyalty Program

Miles&Smiles Program

Since AJet is a subsidiary of Turkish Airlines, passengers can enjoy the benefits of one of the most popular loyalty programs in the world — Miles&Smiles. This allows travelers to integrate their low-cost flights into the overall bonus accumulation system of the airline group.

Membership Levels and Privileges

  • Classic: The base level, allowing you to earn miles and use partner services.
  • Classic Plus: Provides access to lounges on domestic flights and additional baggage allowances (depending on fare conditions).
  • Elite: Offers priority check-in, business lounge access, and the possibility of service class upgrades on parent company flights.
  • Elite Plus: Maximum privileges, including gift statuses for loved ones and guaranteed seats on flights.

How to Earn and Spend Miles

  • Earning: Miles are credited for every flight on AJet and Turkish Airlines, as well as for using partner bank services, renting cars, and booking hotels.
  • Spending: Bonus miles can be exchanged for award tickets, payment for excess baggage, or purchases in the Shop&Miles online store.
  • Alliance Participation: Due to the connection with Turkish Airlines, members can earn miles on Star Alliance partner flights, even though AJet is formally not part of the alliance.

Joining the program is free on the official website or through the mobile app. We recommend always providing your membership number when booking AJet tickets to ensure you don't miss out on earning points.

Services

AJet airline (IATA: VF) follows a low-cost service model, which involves focusing on basic services and offering the option to choose additional features for a fee. A single Economy Class of service is presented on board, but passengers can choose different fare packages that determine the level of ticket flexibility and included services.

Boeing 737 cabin configurations feature modern design and ergonomic seats. The seat pitch is optimized for medium-haul flights, and for those who value increased comfort, a paid service for selecting seats with extra legroom (for example, in the front row or at emergency exits) is available. Entertainment systems and Wi-Fi are absent on most aircraft, which is typical for budget carriers, so it is recommended to prepare content on your own devices in advance.

In-flight catering is organized through a Buy-on-Board system. Passengers can purchase light snacks, hot and cold drinks from the onboard menu. Pre-ordering special meals, including vegetarian or halal dishes, is available on some international flights. For families with children, the airline offers priority boarding and the possibility of carrying baby bassinets or strollers, while passengers with disabilities are provided with the necessary assistance at the airport and during boarding.

Destinations

The AJet route network covers an extensive geography, connecting key Turkish cities with international centers in Europe, the Middle East, and CIS countries. The carrier's main strategic hub and hub airport is Istanbul (Sabiha Gökçen Airport), from where hundreds of flights depart daily to the most popular destinations.

Domestic lines connect important points such as Ankara, Antalya, Izmir, and Diyarbakir. The international flight map of AJet includes metropolises such as London, Baku, Tbilisi, and Dusseldorf. International travelers can also take advantage of direct flights to Saint Petersburg, making the airline an important link for trips to Turkey.

Booking Tips

To purchase AJet tickets at the best possible prices, it is recommended to plan your trip in advance — the optimal time for booking is 4–8 weeks before departure. The cheapest fares are most often found for flights on Tuesday and Wednesday, while weekends and holidays are traditionally more expensive.

Discounts and Check-in: The airline regularly holds seasonal sales, which are easy to follow through the official newsletter or social media. Online check-in opens 36 hours before and ends 60 minutes before departure. We strongly recommend completing the procedure online to save time at the airport and secure a comfortable seat in the cabin in advance. Airport check-in usually begins 3 hours before the flight.

When choosing a seat, keep in mind that window seats and seats in the front of the cabin may be subject to a fee. If legroom is important to you, choose seats in the emergency exit rows. Also, don't forget to take out travel insurance to cover potential costs in case of flight delays or lost baggage. Using the mobile app will allow you to always have your boarding pass at hand and receive prompt notifications about your flight status.

History

The history of AJet (IATA: VF) is inextricably linked to the history of Turkey's national carrier. In 2008, a division called AnadoluJet was created within the Turkish Airlines holding. Its main goal was to provide affordable air travel between the cities of Anatolia and to develop the domestic budget transport market, which had not been fully explored until that point.

Over the years of its existence, AnadoluJet evolved from a small division into a powerful regional player. The company constantly expanded its fleet, which was formed primarily of Boeing 737-800 aircraft transferred from the main airline. The route network gradually expanded beyond Turkey, covering countries in Europe and the Middle East, while maintaining the concept of "simple and accessible service for everyone."

In early 2024, the management of Turkish Airlines made the strategic decision to completely transform the brand and separate it into an independent legal entity. Thus, the company AJET HAVA TAŞIMACILIĞI A.Ş. was born. The rebranding was not just a name change, but a transition to a new business model of a modern low-cost carrier with an updated visual style and digital infrastructure.

The official launch of flights under the new AJet brand took place on April 1, 2024. Today, the company is one of the largest low-cost carriers in the region, operating more than 80 aircraft and carrying millions of passengers annually. While maintaining a close connection to its history and parent company, AJet continues to innovate and expand its flight geography, striving to become the leader in budget transport in the Mediterranean.
