Service Classes and Cabin Experience
FitsAir creates a travel experience that balances affordability with efficiency, staying true to its promise of being a user-friendly airline. While the carrier operates on a low-cost model, it provides distinct levels of service tailored to the aircraft type and flight duration. Passengers flying on international routes, such as the popular connection to Dubai, will find options ranging from value-driven Economy seating to a more exclusive premium cabin.
Economy Class
Economy Class is the primary offering across the FitsAir fleet, designed to deliver essential comfort at a competitive price point. On the Airbus A320 aircraft used for international sectors, the cabin features standard seating with adequate legroom for medium-haul journeys. On the smaller ATR 72 aircraft, utilized for domestic and regional hops, the cabin is compact yet efficient, catering to short flights where speed is the main priority.
Business Class
On select international flights operated by the Airbus A320, FitsAir offers a dedicated Business Class cabin. This exclusive section is intimate, typically consisting of just 8 seats in a spacious 2-2 configuration. Passengers in this cabin enjoy wider seats, generous legroom, and an enhanced recline, providing a more relaxing environment for work or rest. Business Class guests also benefit from priority check-in and boarding services, ensuring a swift passage through the airport.
In-Flight Comfort and Seating
The seating layout depends on the aircraft serving your route:
- Airbus A320: The Economy cabin follows a standard 3-3 layout. The Business Class cabin features a 2-2 configuration with only two rows, offering a private and quiet atmosphere.
- ATR 72: These turboprop aircraft feature a 2-2 seating arrangement. Since there is no middle seat, every passenger enjoys either a window or an aisle seat. The seats are non-reclining but are well-suited for flights that typically last under an hour.
Dining and Beverages
FitsAir's dining service is structured to give passengers control over their travel budget. Instead of including meals in the base fare for all passengers, the airline operates a flexible system.
- Economy Class: Dining in Economy is primarily a "Buy-on-Board" service. Passengers can purchase light snacks, tea, coffee, and soft drinks from the cabin crew during the flight. For those desiring a hot meal, FitsAir recommends the Pre-order service, allowing travelers to select and pay for their meals at the time of booking or via the airline's website prior to departure. This ensures availability and offers a wider choice of Sri Lankan and international dishes.
- Business Class: Passengers traveling in the premium cabin typically receive complimentary refreshments and meals as part of their fare inclusion.
- Special Dietary Needs: If you are pre-ordering a meal and have specific dietary requirements, it is advisable to arrange this at least 48 hours in advance through the airline's reservations team.
Entertainment and Connectivity
To maintain cost-effective fares, FitsAir does not offer seatback in-flight entertainment screens or Wi-Fi connectivity on board. The airline encourages a "Bring Your Own Device" (BYOD) approach. Passengers are advised to download movies, music, or e-books onto their smartphones, tablets, or laptops before the flight. Power outlets may not be available in Economy Class, so carrying a fully charged power bank is recommended.
Special Services and Assistance
FitsAir provides specific assistance services to ensure accessible travel, though some limitations apply due to its operational model:
- Passengers with Reduced Mobility: Wheelchair assistance is available for passengers who require help navigating the airport. This service must be requested at the time of booking or at least 48 hours before the flight to ensure ground support is arranged at both Colombo and the destination.
- Unaccompanied Minors: As a value-focused carrier, FitsAir generally does not accept unaccompanied minors (children traveling alone without a parent or legal guardian) and does not provide an in-flight escort service. Children must be accompanied by an adult passenger. Specific age policies should be verified directly with the airline before booking.
- Expectant Mothers: Expectant mothers can travel up to the 28th week of pregnancy without a medical certificate. From the 28th to the 35th week, a doctor’s certificate confirming fitness to fly is mandatory. Travel is generally not permitted after the 36th week for the safety of both mother and child.
